I've just woken up, so haven't read the previous comments. ...But i'm guessing the weird lineup is due to fatigue from Wednesday/Saturday? The last thing Arry' wants is getting further injuries by overplaying his main CMs! (barton/henry)
Harry has to rotate the squad bit by bit. If the games keep coming thick and fast then Austin, Hill and Dunne will need resting too. Poor old Faurlin must be wondering what he has to do to get some game time.
For this ref, with his average 4 cards/game, goaded on by a bleating home crowd, Barton would have likely had his name on one of them. However, we are going to miss his steel, corner kicks, free kicks etc. I imagine though that he will likely play some sort of role in the 2nd half, perhaps as an impact sub. Hopefully by that point we are not under pressure to make an impact to turn the game around. On paper though, we should be taking this Yeovil team to the cleaners.
I thought he played well last season. He's definitely up to this level if he puts the effort in. Lets hope he does pull his finger out. Not play like he did when given his chance against Swindon would be a start! He's got to prove to the Manager he's bursting a gut to play. He must make it impossible for the Manager not to notice him. Its entirely up to him.
Jenas was equally poor that day! Here's a snippet from your mate Clive's Brighton match report too: "Henry, who the QPR fans didn’t exactly roll out a welcome mat for when he moved from Wolves during the summer, had his best game for the club at the base of the midfield – his absence keenly felt when he was replaced by Jermaine Jenas and his touring Casper the Friendly Ghost impersonation show which caused the midfield to fold in on itself like a Great Bake Off mishap for the final 15 minutes " "When Redknapp inexplicably called for the persistently ineffective Jenas ahead of either Tom Carroll or Ale Faurlin, and then rather ill-advisedly removed safety net Henry to get him out there, the heart of the QPR midfield turned to a stodgy slop. Suddenly there was space for Brighton where no space had existed before and Barton was required to scramble back and execute a couple of desperate tackles to rescue situations for his team"
I didn't read a word of that Grifter. I just can't read Whittingham. I break out in a rash if I do. Surmise what he said for me would you?
I see that Millwall put in another great day at the office in early action away to Charlton in their derby game - I watched a bit of this game - what a difference a week makes, and all without ****tu & Derry (who I assume has come home?). Poor old Wolves in Division 1, away to Shrewsbury, attempting to eek out a 0-0 draw! Despite losing Benteke with what looks like a bad injury, Villa managed to pick up 3 pts at Norwich.
He, quite rightly, made the point that our midfield went from compact and dominant with Henry to being open and dominated with Jenas. I can't for the life of me see what Jenas offers that Faurlin doesn't even if he did have one poor game against Swindon.
I just think - in fact I'm certain of it - that our fans get all gooey eyed about "our" players, IE guys that we've had for a long time and might have had one good season years ago, and would pick them ahead of anyone else just because they've a sentimental attachment to them (Akos Buzsaky being an example). I thought Faurlin was the one player from our Promo side that would definitely step up in the PL but he didn't and he's been pretty sh*t since. Jenas might be sh*t this season too but Faurlin is not the player he was either. Personally, I'd still go with Jenas because Faurlin has done nothing since to indicate he's up to the task.
so no streams to be found for today either? I'm getting serious withdrawal symptoms from not seeing the mighty sooperhoops play in a few weeks, and am getting desperate enough to consider watching Celtic play, just to see if Pukki starts for them (and they have hoops too!)
You were at the Sheffield Wednesday game weren't you Swords? What did you think of Faurlin in that match, because I don't think that Jenas has reached that standard for us this season.
He played quite well to be fair but then let himself down against Swindon. Jenas played very well for us last year and on that basis alone, has deserved to be higher in the pecking order for the start of this campaign. Of course if he's sh*t today then it will have to change and I'll hold my hands up. Like I said, its up to Faurlin to force his way into the side. I have a feeling Harry doesn't think he's strong mentally. That's just a guess though.
