2-1 Liverpool. Their attack isn't great without Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez. I think we'll score though as they'll play more openly. Sturridge, Skrtel and Lambert with the goals.

I also feel we could get something. You mention those results last season and I was mentioning a couple of them earlier in the week. A young community football coach was introduced to me at the school I work in and I asked him if he was a Chelsea fan. He confirmed he was and then asked me who I support. I told him I was a Saints fan and I added that I went to the 2-2 draw. At that point he looked a little uncomfortable before I reminded him we had beaten them at SMS! He just looked at me and replied. I'm losing this one aren't I! To me this is what football is all about. Enjoying the results against the bigger teams plus the enjoyment of reminding their supporters (and Lawro) of them. Of course we are not expected to get anything out of this game by many. Just as we weren't expected to get anything out of those against Chelsea, City and Liverpool....... COYS!

Are we all suitably excited? Yet again I am forced into only having text updates. No nervous glancing at the phone... scrap that.

I am! Wish I was going but working this weekend. Where do you get your text updates? I generally feverishly refresh the bbc commentaries.

I'm looking forward to it as I'm not expecting to get anything, so if we do get something it'll be a bonus. Both teams should go for it, too.

Listening to Dan Walker on Radio 5 at the moment, and, in his pre-match interview, [an excerpt from which they played] Brendon Rodgers was asked what his opinion of Rickie Lambert was, and he was glowing in his praise of Rickie's ability, not as a CF but as an all-round player. Not patronising, but genuine appreciation. It's really nice to hear. Everyone on the programme are saying he should go to Brazil, providing he has a decent season. Breath of fresh air is the lingering comment.

Great to hear Rogers saying this. It goes further to prove that people should not compare Lambert and Carroll. Rogers gives glowing praise to one and sells the other as soon as he can. Enough said......

I think we'll win tomorrow. I'm going to bet on us to win.

I'm very much looking forward to it. Don't have any great expectation that we'll get something from it, but so long as we don't dig ourselves an early hole and thus allow Liverpool to spend the remainder of the game killing us on the counter, it should be a fun one.

Agree with this - I too have not much expectation of getting anything from this game - we cannot score goals at the moment, so its difficult to see how we could win. That said; I hope we put in a stylish performance. Spiderman and Wanyama need to have big days tomorrow to stop us being completely over-run. Am watching the game live in a Sports Bar with a bunch of Liverpool fans - could be a long evening... (+3 hrs time diffence in UAE).

It's twitter. Probably complete bullshit. And even if it is true, he'll only be on the bench.

Seriously? I haven't seen much of him but the u21s haven't exactly excelled lately. What does this mean for gazza? There was always going to be a time when Kelv was succeeded but I assumed it would be Gaza.

No. I was merely trying to answer a mystery with a logical answer. Someone suggests Cody Cropper has made the first team this weekend. He's a goalkeeper. He isn't going to play with Artur as first choice, so what option is left..?

He'd be on the bench, but there's another possibility: that Boruc's mystery knock of a couple weeks ago will necessitate Davis starting, with Cropper backing him up over Gazzaniga.

Boruc looked to be fine in the training photos. Not expecting any attacking fireworks but one or two clinical finishes from osvaldo would be brilliant. I can't see liverpool having a gaping hole in midfield though and they should have enough to beat us 1-0.

Cropper is just going along with the group to integrate him with the first team squad.

Boruc and the other keepers are fine.
