A friend who's a Reading fan is telling me there are rumours they've signed Billy Sharpe now...that would really bring the house down.
Not unhappy with this tbh, it was clear he didnt want to sign for us, and just used us to keep fit. We want players here who want to be here, and I am pleased we are sticking to the wage levels that we want, and not those of the players demands. Shows the owners have learnt from last season.
At least Billy Sharp never had the temerity to use a valuable parking space and drink loads of tap water like that free-loader Baird.
The question is why he would choose the Fake Hoops over us? The contract is only until January and surely they are not paying (much) more than we offered. I can only think that Harry (after taking his time) didn't want him.
Former Fulham defender Chris Baird rejects QPR offer for move to rivals Reading 20 Sep 2013 15:28 Rs boss Harry Redknapp said: "We made him a decent offer and were hoping to get it done, then got a phone call to say he's gone to Reading" Chris Baird and Keith Fahey Chris Baird and Keith Fahey Chris Baird has snubbed QPR to join Championship rivals Reading. The former Fulham defender has been training with Harry Redknapp's side for more than a month and was offered a contract at Loftus Road. Rangers tried to push through the signing yesterday, only for the Royals to hijack the deal and make the Northern Irishman a better offer. It comes as a big blow for Redknapp, who has just two fit centre-backs for tomorrow's trip to Yeovil after Nedum Onuoha was ruled out with a serious hamstring injury. But the former Spurs chief insists QPR did all they could to land the versatile 31-year-old. âI tried to sign him yesterday but he's gone to Reading,â Redknapp confirmed. âHe would've been perfect for us. We made him a decent offer and were hoping to get it done, then got a phone call to say he's gone to Reading. âI don't know what happened. He obviously got offered more money at Reading and decided to go there. âWe made him a very fair offer and couldn't have done any more.â Redknapp is desperate to bolster his backline and is also scouring the loan market to bring in a striker following injuries to Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson. He added: âWe're looking around for one or two players. We need a central defender and at least one striker (seems harry wanted him..totally)
Agree although think we should have made an ultimatum about a month ago to either sign or get lost & train with someone else.
He was given an ultimatum before deadline day and that should've been that when he didn't commit. DT has a point, he'll be able to give Reading a valuable lowdown on our training and tactics from an insider's point of view. In a way it's shown him to be a bit shallow as if it'd been a PL club you could say fair enough, it was top division football that was the decider, but going to one of our main rivals is pretty sh*tty IMO...
Probably figures he's a bigger fish at Reading than with us and will get more games. Bit of a douche bag to train with us, have a good offer on the table, then bugger off (without even telling the gaffer himself!!). Ah well... onwards to get 'right type' of player
