I don't think Sun-Tues is a big problem in this case, just play 'reserves/youngsters' on Tuesday. We can't prioritise the Lge Cup this season, and I hope AVB realises it. We need to save our 'first team' for Chelsea. Incidentally the last time it happened to a 'big club' was all of one one season ago, ie a few months ago, when Chelsea had a ridiculous fixture pile up.
I disagree with the sentiment that we should just abandon the League cup. Other than the rather strange trend that seems to mean the winners' league form drops away dramatically, it is a worthwile competition. I was dead happy when we last won it. We have forked out on a massively talented squad so we can compete for all cups, cherry picking doesn't work and was the kind of small time thinking that harry liked to feed us. I.E we dont have a squad big enough to cope with Europa, so lets ditch it so we can get CL. But then we wont have a squad or mindset to cope with CL and League so erm.....lets struggle in the league then. As was discussed on the other thread, footballers can play twice a week. Maybe not the full team on tuesday, but a selection of 4 differnet teams for these 4 games is plausable - and dont forget we have 3-4players that will return from injury and can be played later in the year in the prem whereas under Harry we just played the same players week in week out, and last year only had Ade and Defoe who were terrible after Xmas. I really think people are underestimating the strength of our squad depth.

It's not about playing twice a week, it's about playing 2 games in 3 days. AVB has said rightly it's dangerous, therefore the players shouldn't be put at risk. I've loved all our 4 lge Cup wins, and if our 'reserves/youth' can knock out Villa, then the next round may see more 'first teamers' play. It's just the way this season's cookie has crumbled. We'll see how deep the squad is on Tuesday I hope, when none of the cardiff starters trot out on the Villa pitch that evening.

Again I'll bow to superior automobile knowledge. What I do think is Paulinho's going to prove this season is he is absolute class and a fantastic buy.
