But Jose is the special one, he can work with any players and win it all, well that's what your fans think.

No it isn't. A manager is important but probably only 10-20%. No manager would turn Stewart Downing into Messi. You still have to have the right players.

He's however won the C.L twice with 2 unfancied sides and taken a title off the greatest club side probably ever whilst in Spain and won titles with Chelsea who hadn't for 50 years. Those are special achievements, ones which Moyes will never ever ever match.

But if you think winning the title (which he hasn't) with the same team that romped to the title the year before is a special achievement; then you're very easily impressed!!

Swansea winning 3-0 in Valencia last night is probably a bigger achievement than Moyes will have all year.

    Nonsense.

He took over a team that had finished second the previous season and spent just short of £100million on new players including Ferreira and Carvalho, who had just won the CL, and Robben and Kezman, who had won the Eredivisie ie players who had already been winners.

To suggest that Drogba was also largely unknown is also nonsense. Clubs don't demand £24million for their unknown players. The guy had just been named footballer of the year in France and made a UEFA Cup final.

    Exactly.

And, as has been pointed out three thousand times, Moyes has never won a trophy. Whereas Mourinho was already a european cup winner. So if Moyes wins a trophy then it is some acheivement.

A bigger one, I should point out, than winning one match against ten men.

You Chelsea fans seem to want it every way you choose. Telling us Moyes was 466th choice and has not won a trophy but even if he is a success and does win a trophy it won't count because of who was there before him. Utter bollocks of course.

You can't blame them too much. No knowledge of football according to their manager and no logic to their arguments...<laugh>

As do United fans. You say Fergie was the greatest ever manager but don't think Moyes coming in will make a difference. Mmmmm.

I'm more shocked by Swansea winning 3-0 in Valencia than I will be if United win the title...as no doubt would many people.

You keep living in your bubble though where everyone's opinion other than United fans' is wrong.

Seems the opinion isn't only that of Utd fans.

As for having an easy job defending a title the club ran away with, that's complete and utter bollocks. Arsenal ran away with the title in 02 and 04, didn't help one bit in defending it. Ditto Utd running away with the title in 94, 97, 01 and 11.

All the evidence shows that defending a title is a hell of a lot harder than winning it, which is reflected in the fact that only Paisley, SAF and Mourinho have successfully defended the title in the past 50 years or so. And Mourinho's defence of the title was a lot less impressive than the first win.

The simple fact is that Moyes has the hardest job of the top three right now - Mourinho and Pellegrini have been given plenty of money and leeway to break up the old team and build their own. Moyes hasn't had that luxury - he's been allowed to buy one player operating under a strict budget and with the requirement that he keep the old team together. That requirement would hamstring 90% of managers, even those whose team it was in the first place. Remember Ancelotti in 2011 or Mancini whining about not getting another fistful of cash to burn last year?

If it was so easy to stroll to the title simply by having the players who won it last year, why are Utd not the overwhelming favourites for the title this season?

That's not true at all. We know fine well it will make a difference but are defending Moyes's ability to be successful his way.

It's you lot who are saying 'Fergie is gone therefore United are now ****, end of.' and won't even consider the idea Moyes could pick up the baton and do well.

<doh>. That's all that can be said to that.

Lot harder to build a new team than keep a winning one still winning.

Moyes wasn't allowed to buy one player, you just ****ed up in the transfer market. You bid for 2 players at once for christ sake. Jesus Swarbs, this is blinkered even for you!!

Ok, name me a top flight manager in England in the past 60 years who has managed to keep a winning team at the same level year after year. It's a very short list, and neither of the managers on it managed it in their first year.

Whereas Wenger, Hartford, Scolari, Ancelotti, Dalglish, Mancini, Graham, Kendall, Shankly, and even Mourinho and Busby couldn't keep their team improving and winning year after year. And yet all of those managers built a successful new team, often winning the title within a year or two of taking the job.

You can huff and puff and facepalm about it all you like but the facts show that, barring a select group of two managers, it is much easier to build a winning team than it is to maintain one. As evidenced by the two members of that select group being the two best managers to ever manage in the English top flight.

    Oh, and:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24149643
"The second priority was to add a midfield player, and the capture of Fellaini has met that need."

One midfield player. That was our target. We bid on two players at once, but showed no interest in Herrera once the Fellaini deal started moving. And even if we'd signed two players that would be a heck of a lot less than the amount of spending and signings Chelsea and City have made (as per usual).
