When do you think the first signing of the summer will be announced?

In a week, 2 weeks, tomorrow out of the blue, July first when the window officially opens?

 

Not sure, but I have a feeling we'll be linked to players all summer and all the signings will happen in the last week.

 

I think the announcement will be made when we have signed somebody. Not sure mind you, just a hunch.

 

It looks like Kenny is closing in on Jordan Henderson. We've upped out offer to £18m and Sunderland are holding out for £20m. Kenny wants to get it wrapped up before Henderson goes away on international duty so 38 hours.

 

£20 million. So much money. Just think, 2 x Henderson's fee could pay for Aguero instead...we can dream.

 

I dont think Aguero is needed. The £40million of Aguero could b spent on a selection of more needed players.


As for the fee, its just the way football is now.

I hope we get all our business done early on so the players can have a full pre-season this year. Last minute signings always seem to take a good few weeks to settle in... for obvious reasons. We need everyone to befit and playing from the beginning of the season this time around.

 

This. The team needs gelling and establishing to. Last season we seemed to start not even knowing what formation to play.

 

Agreed. For the last two seasons now we've taken our pre-season friendly performances straight into the season. We need to hit the ground running in August and have had time for the new team to gel over some friendlies. Let's just hope we have a kinder fixture list than last year for the first few games.

 

yeah the new players need to be able to play our philosophy and with our players right from the first game for a successful season, so hopefully we will have done a few deals before august

 

Getting deals done and announcing them are two different things though. I *think* we might get a couple done before or on Wednesday (the under 21s) , but may not officially announce them until the end of June.

 

Why do you want huge names like Aguero? Great player, but you need more then one player to be sucsessfull, and yes I know you have money now.

I think it is almost certain you will get Henderson tomorrow, then expect Jones next week

The window is open now flower, the 1st July is what is used in mainland Europe and on Football Manager, but the window actually opens on 1st June

 

I reckon we'll have everything sealed and sorted before the start of August, I very much doubt there will be any last minute shenanigans like there were in January unless John W. Henry gets a taste for it

 

I hope we get them sorted soon simply so I can begin to do my armchair football manager thing.
