Fulham are to return the statue of Michael Jackson outside Craven Cottage to the club's former owner Mohamed Al Fayed. The sculpture was installed at the back of the Hammersmith stand in 2011, in tribute to the late singer, whom Fayed insisted was a fan of the west London club. Fulham were bought by the American Shahid Khan in a £150m deal during the summer, and initially it had appeared the Jackson statue would remain in place. However, it now appears Fayed will take the statue to one of his other properties as the club press on with plans to revamp their home on the banks of the Thames. A Fulham spokesperson said: "The statue is not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course." http://www.not606.com/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=51 What do you reckon FT?
I reckon they missed a trick in not making it animatronic. That would have been great - it could have moonwalked across the entrance, clutching its groin and squealing. Of course, they would have needed to move the turnstiles for the family enclosure....
I personally never cared about the m.j statue, its not in the way of the proposed riverside stadium re vamp(believe it when I see it) that's just an excuse, but it should not be in a football ground, any we had the pee taking out of us over it. when it was installed my view was, for what al fayed has done for my little club, he could put as many statues has he likes in the ground, its a very small price to pay, now its going it wont be missed
Oh sh*t..we're running out of reasons to give3 them ****..good job they signed Adel..Im sure he'll give us plenty of ammo...!! Please AT..just for me?!
I was amused to see that famous '80s picture of Jacko with ET the other day, to which somebody had added an "Alien vs Predator" banner.
When it first went up one joker on Twitter enquired why they had a statue to Luis Nani.... In other news today, Leeds United to take down their statue to Jimmy Savile....
That's Michael Jackson???? I've spent the last couple of years wondering why a carbonite frozen Han Solo had been erected at Craven Cottage after his holiday from hell in Cloud City.
And the same for Lance Armstrong - one of a long list of people that we all thought were something quite different to what they really were. http://celebritynewsgossiptv.com/lance-armstrongs-statue-should-it-be-torn-down
It needs to be more realistic, perhaps a hand should reach out every time a kid goes past? Of course the other hand could still clutch its groin.
Its no wonder a football club doesn't want a statue of a nonce outside their ground. Fayed was a fu*king weirdo.
why does everyone say jacko is outside the ground, he is in the ground, alan brazil said yesterday on talk sport, why is m.j statue outside c.c, why don't ffc have a statue of johnny Haynes, I kid you not. m.j weirdo yes, nonce I don't believe so, kid in a adult body yes. that's always been my view. if you don't like then just beat it. but m.j has no place at a football ground
Now that would be a fitting tribute to a great footballer - Fayed should have put his money into that project, rather than MJ, in the tradition of Bolton's Nat Lofthouse:- please log in to view this image Lofthouse was named player of the year in 1953 (good vintage year that was!) Too bad we later spoiled their day.
What's the going rate? I could do with a scarecrow for my fruit trees. please log in to view this image
It's only a matter of time before Liverpool honour their fine tradition of footballing legends by erecting a statue of Derek Acorah.
They are replacing him with a beautiful commissioned bronze ... by Henri Paul It's Jimmy Saville riding on the back of Stuart Hall while Gary Glitter and Jonathan King look on
