Sterling was excellent for the Under 21's against Sunderland this week, also went to RB when we went down to 10 men (similar to against Notts County) and played very well there. Was used more as a wing back. Now I'm not saying he should but it might be something to think about. As Carragher said, all full backs are either failed CB's or failed Wingers and if he can work on his defending a bit, he could be a good option to play there. Need to work on his strength a bit, but got the pace and attacking ability to be a threat running from deep.
Alves, Jordi Alba, Roberto Carlos, Ashley Cole - a lot of best full backs started of wingers #justsaying
Sterling defended well in the 2 games he's played at RB. P.s, bloody slow on here tonight, just me and you it seems
He did defend well but he wasn't exactly convincing. It was more dogged than skill; ie, he doesn't know when he's beaten. I wouldn't put him at RB, especially when RB is arguably our strongest position
Johnson, Kelly, Wisdom and Ilori I ignore injuries when assessing the squad because that is what a squad is for!
I ignore centre backs when assessing the RB's in the squad because that's what specialist positions are for. If you're assessing Kelly & Wisdom at RB, then why not Sterling
That's like saying Suarez can only play upfront which is clearly bollox. Kelly and Wisdom have played far more games for us at RB than CB. Ilori (I am told) is more than capable of playing RB too. If they can play there then they count for that position. DM and CM are far more of a concern IMO PS...where the **** is everyone? PPS...activity bar is nearly back
Don't think you could make a smaller step I do think we should look to sign a specialist RB but that's more to do with me wanting to see us cash in on Johnson. I like the lad but he's getting on a bit and (as I've said a few times now) he represents the unsuccessful / nightmare era
