Has anybody else noticed that there are less fly's about in the area this year, I think it's because they are all swarming over Southampton. I was forced to go there on Sunday with my job and there are bin bags and rubbish everywhere, I think it's disgusting and that the players and trainees from that other club should clean up the mess they could always store it in St Fairys maggots with maggots.

No fly's on Pompey? No spelling, certainly! And limited grammar, as there might be fewer flies, but there are certainly not less fly's in Portsmouth.

I don't normally correct these things, but I think it's the right thing to do on WUMS like this. :)

At times like this, you need to call for Bluebottle from the Goon Show - he could handle things

If you look at page2 of tonights Echo you will find there are major public health concerns over the growing maggot population in Southampton from the discarded rubbish. We all know that fly's come from maggots so that must be where the swarm's of fly's have come from. No swarm's in Portsmouth.

You perpetuate a myth around the insulting term you use as a name for Southampton supporters and then you mock the consequences of the actions of true Trades Unionists who stand up against a bullying state that let Bankers get away with crippling the economy and wrecking our lives but tread all over lowly paid Local Authority workers. I now know who the real scum are and it is not people from Southampton.

Complacency, deference and towing the line seem to be traits prevalent in the people of Portsmouth.

Talk about two faced but then that is a physiological feature of flat fish.

What a load of tosh !!! Where, oh where, has Smiles (whoever he is) made mention of calling you "Scummers" in this article ?

He, for some reason, chooses to raise the question of swarms of flies in Southampton, presumably due to the fact your city refuse collectors are behind in their collections.

Get off your high horse and chill out a bit, for goodness sake - you could start a fight in an empty room !!

Our city has problems with it's refuse collection at this time because the defenders of the working class, ie our council workers, are taking a stand against the bullying tactics of a capitalist funded tyranical regime hell bent on impoverishing ordinary people so that the rich get richer.

I had always considered the citizens of Portsmouth as Urban Class Warriors but now all I read from you is the acquiescent ramblings of capitalist lackies.

Get a spine for goodness sake or are you hell bent on living up to your spinelss namesake the Skate?

I think St Godders is referring to the anachronism which is the "South Coast Union Members" excuse for the term Scummers. Totally untrue of course, so he has a point if that the reason that some posters use the term.
Of course, if you just hate the Saints, then you don't need that figleaf and strikebreaking is irrelevant.

Meowth, I have long since given up hope that my pedantry will change anything. :)

I see what you are saying Channon, but pray, please tell me where Smiles mentions the phrase "Scummers" or "Scum" in his post.

Am I going mad ? I cannot see it anywhere !!

I think he/she was attempting humour in the 'article', but do not believe was having a "pop" at Trade Unions, etc.

NOT606 to my mind has deteriorated since the demise of BBC606 <steam>

    Dear Woopert,

    Let me explain.

Your supporters use an insulting term to describe Saints Supporters based on a myth of strike breaking. This implies that you as fans very much disapprove of strike breaking and by implication consider industrial action the right of every worker.

Smile made reference to uncollected rubbish in Southampton (there as a consequence of the industrial action taken by council workers as described in my posts above) and mocked its consequences.

I would hope that the good working class citizens of Portsmouth would consider this brave action by Southampton's council workers worthy of their support. If not then the whole fiasco of the myth you perpetuate with the use of SCUM is hypocritical and that you are in reality the anti trade unionists.

Smile's comments are mocking of trade union action and therefore your myth has fallen apart.

Does anyone agree with other Southampton Board members that St God comes across as a smug twat??

Is there, perhaps, a StGod filter...................

Yep, just use the ignore button. I think he is a sanctimonious prick, but smug twat also fits.
