It was touched upon on the match thread, but I think it warrants one of its own.

LR has gone quiet. The 12th man is down.

Is there something that can be done to get it firing again?

Is it down to the team to get the crowd going, or is it our duty/in our interests to lead the way?

Surely we all would rather a rocking LR, rather than being able to hear conversations 3 blocks away. If you were playing for QPR, you'd want a loud, passionate support behind you, surely. It lifts our boys and creates the fortress atmosphere.

I love a good atmosphere, it sends a chill down my spine and I reckon we should take action. Some don't want to sing, many will if they don't feel alone. There's no need for offensive language and swearing, just good, honest vocal support.

Anyone got any ideas? Or am I "on my own, on my own, on my own"

We should do what Palace do and have a part of the crowd which literally go mad every game. Their atmosphere in the Sunderland game was superb, even when Sunderland scored the Palace fans were singing louder.

It seems to entirely depend on where you sit. In PU, I thought the atmosphere was rather good. It is always quieter in the first 25mins of the second half.

I think it's that expectation is very high at the moment...Every game has been so tight that it has not got the crowd singing as much...
Last time in the championship we were beating teams convincingly, it was fun....We are top of the league...But it doesn't not feel like it...

    I agree with you Seahoop.

Most of our fans seem to be sitting back waiting for it to happen rather participating in making it happen.

We are suffering from a superiority complex.

I agree. Reminds me a bit of the attitude at the start of last season when we were going to make top 10, and dismissed all our opponents as inferior.

Redknapp makes them play boring football, the crowd step up when the players do something.

Don't blame it on the fans, blame it on the manager, a lot of teams in the league have scored more goals than we've had for and against us in games.

    Its Hughes Like football.

I think it is all down to the fact that the team is playing an agonisingly negatative system with too many midfielders playing too deep and the number of times the ball goes backwards is infectios and I believe is affecting Charlie Austin who is used to running onto a ball and banging it in but now he is having to come back to get tbe ball and has obviously lost his edge although he works incredibly hard. When Nico comes in and Carroll gets fit with hopefully a new striker coming in the goals will start to fly in.

Yesterday was the first time we've played a 5 man midfield, and we did it because it was the system that improved us when we switched to it at HT V Brum. For the rest of the season it's been 442.

I agree re. Nico/Carroll and the striker <ok>

I don't like it and i expect most don't but we are very solid and the fear of conceding for me has now gone

Also i think our away games have been excellent. Gutsy doggied performances, and the fans who managed to go to Bolton and Leeds could be heard loud and clear..

    My two cents:

    a) There are large numbers of supporters who don't sing, ever (or maybe only when we're beating Chelsea or another deadly rival)
    b) We are touted as Championship favourites, but sneaking 1 - 0 wins in close games makes you hold your breath, rather than let it out.
    c) Many people are shell-shocked and stifled from two seasons of trampled optimism, and are "driving with the brakes on".

We always sound good away from home.

Hopefully, things will improve at LR if the results keep coming.

Patience is the key, we're just making do at present until the key players are fit and we can play a more expansive game with Kranjcar pulling the strings. Would you rather have had five 3-2 defeats with thrilling football? I think not...

Good points, I especially liked your 'driving with the brakes on' comparison, describes it perfectly for me. Guess we will need a few more games before we start to really believe we can stay in contention. Have some rep.

I'm not surprised the atmosphere is lacking. We got relegated, humiliated, won only 4 games in a season etc. I think its called post traumatic stress disorder but whatever it is, you can feel the after effects of last season still at home games. There's a brand new team on the pitch, results have been fantastic, but the crowd seem hesitant, unconvinced - maybe wondering when its all going to blow up in our faces again! And for what its worth, my mate supports West Ham and he moaned about the football at Upton Park all through their championship promotion season. Maybe we were spoiled with Adel last time, most championship football is disappointing - particularly after the premiership.

Look at Swansea, theyve gone to Valencia and are 3-0 up after an hour, we dont even get 3 threatening shots on goal for the whole match.

Why should our fans put in an effort if our own team isnt going to even try to win games? The football we are seeing is they type you expect from relegation candidates.

Flyer, I have to say that your negativity knows no bounds.....

For the record Valencia had a man sent off after 10 minutes so the swans have been doing what they have been doing for the last 2 years.....they are a bloody good side......whereas for the last 2 years we have been a bloody awful side......I can't believe that you wrote the part i have highlighted.....off course they are trying to win but lets face it we had 4 wins in the whole of last season and we have already won 5 times in 7 games this season......in case you haven't noticed we're top of the league and as has been said on countless times we haven't really played that well so far....

Flyer you are generally a good poster but this finding fault with everything is getting tedious.....your negativity was even the subject of a discussion between us during half time last Saturday......

Start seeing the positives it really is a good feeling.......
