Manchester United to introduce singing area for Real Sociedad tie Manchester United will trial a 1,400-seat singing section for the Champions League home game against Spanish side Real Sociedad on 23 October. Noise levels at Old Trafford have long been derided by the club's own fan groups and opposition supporters. The club scrapped an earlier attempt at the venture after police refused to allow away fans to be relocated to the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand's third tier. The singing section will be in the south-east corner of the ground. Sociedad's travelling fans, who would normally be housed there, will instead be in the East Stand. United midfielder Michael Carrick wrote on Twitter it was a "great idea". As part of the fan-led initiative, season ticket holders will be given priority, with any remaining tickets then offered to members. United attempted to increase noise levels at the club last season by appointing an acoustic engineer.
Who's that geezer on the telly who got the army wives to form a choir? Maybe he could be their next signing
I think it's a great idea, I've been wanting us to do something similar for years (& before you even think about trying to take the piss - Anfield is just as bad) Atmosphere's at ground have been on the wane since the introduction of all seater stadia & it's generally only at away games that fans of most clubs are heard in full voice. I'll be interested to see if this experiment works.
Tobes you need to worry about getting more people in there, maybe then there'd be a bit more atmosphere.
Yeah mate, I'm sure a few Norwegians & some Japanese day trippers would really sort out the issue.........oh wait
Tobes, this was supposed to be a piss-take of the mancs and you've engineered it into a BS v Reds argument. Stop derailing
I'll be honest here..... if you drop the red's bias you have got to admit tobes is probably right.... oh not for everton or utd but i'm talking about all those other games that tobes secretly watches the reds in rather than his own club. The fact is 1. Away fans are "primarily" men. 2. homes fans are now: Families, tourist, women and men. so come on guys take the average game, you know people are selling their season tickets to travel agents for profit and you have guys from normay to thailand to ireland to god knows where turning up presenting seaosn ticket cards with a very english name. Thor radmusson or lo pang calling themselves henry hotspur... women and children fill half the prems grounds now as well... so it is not at all surprising that the "singing" is less and the "spectating" is more. In fact i find football grounds generally sound more like tennis arenas these days... clapping after plays and avid silence during them. Is come all to obvious when to watch on TV and you can so clearly now make out the abusive chants between home fans and away fans. it used to be the case there was enough noise to drown most of that out.
Generally once a season more than you is my guess There's a thing called a television mate & the chant "where's your famous atmosphere" is often heard wafting through the awkward silence.........
He has to stick up for Yermited...every bluenoses second team #iactuallyagreewithhim Modern stadium (and modern fans) are sterile and lifeless. Anfield is no different. I ****ing hate it I've long been of the opinion that something needs to change, my personal preference would be free beers in the ground between 1 and half 2 #gettheminearly
