Strange that the club should mention McLean's injury and not Koren's, seeing that Koren's is far more important to us.

I think it's likely we'll see Rosie in with Elmo pushed forward, I'd be surprised if that wasn't being considered before Koren got injured.

When Koren's gone off, he's given the armband to Chester, so I assume he'll be captain on Saturday.

Its a 3 way choice innit. Elmo, Meyler or Quinn in for Koren in midfield. Meyler was busting a gut tonight. Think i would go with him, its going to be tough up at Newcastle and he's got a great engine on him and gets stuck in, can provide more cover for Elmo too. Then bring Quinny on for the last 25 again.

Moving Elmo further forward kills two birds with one stone.

Firstly, it stops him from defending the last third which he is shyte at and secondly it replaces Koren.

How do you know he was "forced" to play? I reckon Koren would have wanted to play - and would have played down the extent of his injury

Well alright not forced as such; he might have wanted to play, but what kind of physio team say to players "Well, you broke your foot, which is the thing you kick the ball with. Tell you what, we'll inject you and you won't feel a thing." Just because he's had painkillers doesn't mean the injury is gone and playing with a broken bone will have almost certainly exacerbated the injury.

We did this with ***an, Garcia and Bullard to name a few; if a player picks up an injury, why the hell would you continue playing them and risk losing them for a longer period of time? If they're that important, (given that Quinn and Meyler are capable of replacing him, it seems even more daft), then they should be left to recouperate and ensure they come back as soon as possible and with a clean bill of health. He's a great player and our captain; if he's been playing with an injury, he could've been resting for 2 or 3 weeks and been back in time for the Christmas schedule.

Agreed. We have a history of allowing players to play with foot injuries, add Stevie Hunt and Gedo to that list, and finishing up with them out for months. The last two weeks Roko could have been resting with Quinn back as a very good replacement. Wouldn't be surprised to find Koren will be out for longer than 7 weeks.

Phil Buckingham confirming the foot injury.

Not looking too clever for Robert Koren ahead of the weekend. Troubled by a foot injury. Scan results pending but v unlikely to face #nufc

    @PJBuckingham 3h
That may explain Liam Rosenior's absence tonight. Had been due to play. Back in at RB, Elmo up to RM?

This is what i would prefer. Elmo is crap at defending.

this has happened to me: there are some tiny bones in the foot, which can be broken, or bruised & he's probably been on anti-imflammatories thinking he can play it off or will recover.

Big shame for Koren, he's had a great start to the season - looked more like his old self.

At the foot of this article. <sorry>

    • Robert Koren has emerged as a major doubt for City’s trip to Newcastle as he awaits the outcome of scans on a foot injury. The Tigers’ skipper complained of discomfort after last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Cardiff and it is feared he could have suffered a broken bone in his foot, an injury that could see him sidelined until November.

Unless we change formation then I don't see how Elmo would replace Koren.

I'd be tempted to go with Meyler and really get stuck into Newcastle. They don't look like there up for a scrap.

Not that bad actually as we have 2 International Breaks in the next 7 weeks. 12/13th October and 16/17th November. So that takes care of 4 weeks.

I would play Rose and push Elmo forward more but it could well be good news for Quinn now.

A place on the bench now then for Nick Proschwitz. Sadly i fear that Yannick Sagbo will get it.

Correct Ellewoods. Chester has been handed the arm band everytime Koren has gone off. I can see James Chester being the capt for now. It is not that hard to shout heads or tails is it ? ffs.

Davies can carry on as he is. Doing just fine. Spiffing actually.

Yes. Rosie was pulled from last nights game so expect Liam to be at right full back @ Newcastle with Elmo further up the pitch. Lets get in and at em. Newcastle look poor.
