Regardless of the heartbreaker at Reading last night, one thing is clear ... McD is a fine manager who has turned our club around, and we are now facing in the right direction. Leeds have had a tough start, yet not one team has dominated us, and we have been in with a shout of winning each game. Brighton, QPR, Bolton, Reading, Leicester ... all clubs expected to be at the sharp end this season. Not one of these struck fear into us. Ipswich away ... a customary loss and red card, not this season! I believe we will be in good shape come January, and ten points off automatic will be a great position. We will go up from there ... if GFH backs McD in the transfer market and adds at least three quality players, including a striker. It won't be easy, getting good players in January generally means you have to pay, but with the Prem in sight it should be a given that GFH find the money for McD. The current squad will do a job until January, and get us placed for a push. Can they drive on from there? Not without strengthening. We've seen it before ... the January window can make all the difference. The worst thing would be we get well placed, no players are added in January, we push on and ...... finish seventh!! Now that would fcuk me off big time!!
Agreed mostly. McD is terrific and is squeezing everyuthing possible from what he's inherited. I just dont see GFH backing him in any meaningful way in January and that seventh place could be a distinct possibility. Even our team as it stands, would stand a decent chance in the playoffs given how hard we are to beat
I hope you're right Billy, but as Eire says, GFH dont have the cash unless they can bring in a huge investor before Xmas. We are 3 players short of being a contender, and without those players we are top 10 at best, and without we will be mid-table I'm afraid. There are too many teams who have plenty of cash and parachute payments to play with. Too many clubs that already invested in players, too many clubs with prem credentials. We cannot hope to compete financially with these clubs or their squads without investment. Right now post Bates we are in a stable condition at best, but need a transfusion of capital to get us over the line.
What do you base this optimism on? The fact that you are allegedly playing so well, but have only managed to score 6 goals in 7 games? You need a goalscorer. You had a goalscorer but got rid of him for a season to fund Smith and Hunt!!
All that i can see with Leeds is that they are very defensive and hard to break down, to stand any chance of going up you'll need to press forward more but that will only weaken the midfield and defence and will cost you goals against, it seems to me that the Heston Blumenthal look-a-likey is taking the easy option to prolong his time at Leeds.
We have had the worst start ever to a season, Seven new signings, and a new manager was always going to take time to work In that time you have mastered 6 more points
That would pan out to 35-40 extra points over a season, so wtf are you blathering about? While we are at it, stop flirting with that charlton weirdo.
Yes to us cos we are now getting settled and finding our feet cant see 6 points taking too long to pull back maybe a week or so Dont worry about the Charlton weirdo they are like Leeds fans once we beat em theres never any around
**** me thats rich Mighty, you lot went missing for a month at the start of the season, no matter what we shall always be around.
Firstly, a league season is all about consistency, and it starts with being hard to beat ... defence is the cornerstone of any successful team. Secondly, Brighton - Leicester - Wednesday (derby) - Ipswich (away bogey) - QPR - Bolton - Reading and Burnley to come ... what a difficult start!! Yet ... matched the lot, looking good for the future. Reasons to be optimistic ... will only get better as well.
As was proved last season there are no easy games in this division BillysStatue, 54 points got you relegated last season and 69 points got you a place in the play-offs, randomly pick another 7 teams and you can make a good point on them too.
Blimey. One win and it's gone straight to their heads. They'll be talking about Champions League football next. Where the **** were you all while your little club was rock bottom?
