How good was he? I don't think I've ever seen a more relaxed technically gifted left back for anyone, let alone QPR. please log in to view this image This player just oozes class. His touch, control, vision and passing is far too good for this league. We are lucky to have him. He was the one shining beacon in what was a rather drab evening.
He looked completely out of place didn't he! I've never seen someone manage to play Playmaker from left back before.
Neither have I Grifter, he was the only player on the pitch who was willing to not play the easy 'it's not my responsibility' pass. He at least twice passed between the centre back and full back to try and create an opening.
If he can weave his hair into an elaborate basket shape, he'd be a top target-man (would this be allowed?).
Benoit Assou-Ekotto .............. Man, this guy is one cool dude ! A new team favourite. please log in to view this image
A lot of Spurs fans were on here when he came complaining that they preferred him to Rose. I've always thought BAE looked class and hopefully he will continue as he apparently did last night for the whole season.
I was under the impression that he was a top player for spurs and judging by last night, he looks a fantastic addition for us. Am I right in remembering him score a couple of long distance belters? Was hoping he might have had one or two of those free kicks.
I was a bit apprehensive when he joined but he looked calm skillful & can't see hill staying at left back now, but with neds injury he will move back to cb.
Beautiful player and the defence is complete ... With Henry in front of them excellent and that looks solid Crosses and free kicks .... Good god we need some practice there
It's not difficult to work out Barton's signal code from last night: one hand raised means that it's going to sail over your heads, two hands raised means the first defender is going to clear it with his knees...
I disagree 1. I thought Joeys corners and free kicks were top class OTHER THAN the last 2 which were sh*te and all everyone remembers 2. Benoit Assou-Ekotto - class going forwards. Didn't seem interested in tracking back at full speed. Could see him in trouble in tough away games. Match fitness I hear you say
Barton's dead-ball kicks this season have been way ahead of anything we produced last year. Sure, there were one or two duff ones last night, but when I got home I saw the "highlights" (30 seconds) on Sky and all of our goal threats came from Barton's free-kicks/corners.
