**** it, I will persist, as that's contradictory nonsense.

Read that highlighted sentence back again & tell me what the **** you're arguing against here, as you've just unwittingly agreed with me.

Tobes how would you differentiate between lack of skill and mistake?

I thought I had already answered this question? All goals are caused by the evil of all men and no genuine goals will be scored until we find enlightenment, seek the truth inside yourselves and only then will we see the true goal.

Whether something could be classed a 'mistake' or not, is dependant on your ability level. i.e. it's all relative.

A golfer who can consistently hit the ball 300 yards off the tee, who then catches one not quite out of the centre of the bat & it only goes 250, to him that'd be a 'mistake', to another golfer of lesser ability, it'd be a shot he'd have been proud of.

The same applies in football, a defensive header that doesn't carry 30 yards from goal, might be seen as a 'mistake' by a top international CB, but to League 2 journeyman, might be seen as totally acceptable.

There's obvious mistakes in football that lead directly to goals (that's where this convo started), but how far back would you take the 'mistake' to class it as being integral to the goal being scored?

To state that every goal comes from a defensive error is pure drivel, which is what I've been saying all along, as it ignores all of the other factors, not least the incredible skill levels of top EPL players these days. As supporters we often look at incidents were our teams concede & are ultra critical of the defence, a fact that we don't usually dwell on when we're drooling over the quality of a goal we've scored at the other end.

But I defy ANY football fan to say that EVERY goal they've EVER seen scored, was the result of a defensive 'mistake' as opposed to a piece of attacking brilliance...............

Can we not just chalk it up to: best player/best team on the day? Whoever outperforms their rival on the game day will be the winner. For every mistake, the mistake must be exploited, for every piece of individual skill, the opposition must match or find a way to nullify that skill. This is why the better team/player "on paper" will not win 100% of the time. This is why underdogs "giant slay". This is the whole point of gambling and odds. What you should really analyse is probability and statistical mathematics. Go on! Make this thread much more boring!

Juvenile delinquent. If you think I'm spelling it with a K, you want your balls chopping off. When they've actually dropped, of course <laugh>

I've said that it must start at when the ball was turned over. It then depends on each persons interpretation of whether they class that as a mistake [which several people on here have said] or lack of skill which I'm guessing would be more how you would see it.

The second highlighted bit - you're talking to Liverpool fans here *cough* beachball *cough* .... <laugh>

Do you actually know what contradiction is? If you did then you would understand that there is no contradiction in that statement. The success of both attackers is matched by the mistakes of both defences hence a stalemate - otherwise known as a draw!

    Try again!
