For those who did not see the U21s game last night.
Cabral just seemed to switch off for their 3rd goal (4:55) and stopped playing. I'd prefer to have Watmore in midfield than play Cabral in this mood.

Oh my god. What's he doing? Stood on the spot watching the game.

Not doing himself any favours is he?

Can't see Bally wanting him in the dev squad in the near future after that performance.

Shocking performance by Cabral. Especially on their third goal. What the f*** was he doing?

I watched it on a stream and he didn't seem at all fussed. Strolled around and gave the ball away carelessly loads of times

He's a decent footballer but he needs to show some fire. He can't expect to get his spot in the team by not trying

Do you think he is as stubborn as PDC and thought f*ck you am not doing it in the reserves? Must have been scouted to suggest he had something about him so methinks a falling out has occurred.

Answers a lot of questions imo.

Still, the scouts can`t get it right every time. Might be a very good player but if the attitude`s wrong it simply won`t work.

Second thoughts maybe being unfair blaming the scouts, doubt they would see this side.

Never mind, cost us virtually nowt.

Still disappointing though, expected him to it give a good go. Plenty time yet though to sort himself out.

This is my take ion it. He didnt sign with the thoughts of being a reserve team player having been a virtual first team pick for thew last 3 or 4 years but then has clashed with the manager for whatever reason and has probably gone into a strop (I'm not condoning this either) now and said **** you.

Can only see this ending in him moving on in January personally and that will be a shame IMO. For all parties.

    Well he's not in charge

If he doesn't show anything in the development squad or training then he'll spend the rest of the season out of the team

exactly as it should be imo, he plays the way PDC wants him to or he doesn`t play.

right or wrong it`s the way it has to be.

Yes if he`s prepared to graft for his place. Rumour has it he wanted automatic selection. Sounds like a similar attitude?

    Let's see how he responds

Hope he gets his attitude right and forces his way back into the team by working hard in training and actually looking bothered if he plays any development games

I'd have Alfie back but only if he is willing to fight for a spot instead of going on loan because Di Canio told him he couldn't guarantee he'd be a starter

I really liked the look of Cabral in pre-season and against Fulham and thought (along with Celutska) could be our signing of the season. However, I would say both the 2nd and 3rd goals he didnt look arsed and based on that performance i would have Gorrin in before him. That kid seems to be doing it in the reserves on a weekly basis.

Cabral was a heaverly scouted player by all account and in 'Legion of Light' Margaret Byrne said they moved heaven and earth to get him. However, if he isnt performing and expecting to stroll in the side he doesnt get in simple. He may not have come here to play in the reserves, however if he is not doing anything to suggest otherwise he needs to stay in the reserves till he sorts his act out. Im sure if any of us wernt performing to our abilities at work, we wouldnt get the promotion we believed we deserved either.

Fair point but then if another company headhunted you and promised you certain things and then it didn't happen, how would you feel? I don't pretend to know the minute details of his contract and discussions before coming here but I am taking an educated guess that an experienced 24 year old lad with over 150 games at the highest level, who was feted by a number of clubs in the summer (who we by Margaret Byrnes own words moved heaven and earth to get) wasn't told he'd be dropped after just 2 games (2 canny games btw and a goal) only to then play reserve team football against a Liverpool youth team on a cold Tuesday night on Merseyside?

If that happened to any of us at a new job we'd be pretty pissed off as well. I'm not saying his current attitude is acceptable and he was poor by all accounts but for me its also completely understandable.

Agree with what you are saying mate but, again these are supposed to be PROFESSIONAL footballers and, if that was me shunted into the reserves/development squad (stupid name by the way) then I'd be running through brick walls to get back into the first team and out of the reserves. Maybe as said his attitude is that of a twat who thinks he is better than he actually is who knows? personally I think he has got to be better than Vaughan (even after 20 pints and a pack of Navy Cut). Bench him for Saturday and give him a run out if he does well then give him more game time if not then get shot asap.

Agreed poolie, he looks in the huff watching him. Maybe Paolo is stripping him down to build him back up. Kicking egos as he put it. He has done himself no favours there. Whatmore looks good though.
