QPR boss Harry Redknapp freezes star out Julio Cesar Julio Cesar Wednesday, September 18, 2013 8:06 AM QPR boss Harry Redknapp has appeared to rule out any prospect of Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar forcing his way back into contention at Loftus Road. . .. Cesar is set to miss out again for tonightâs home clash with Brighton in the Sky Bet Championship, with Rob Green maintaining his number one position and youngster Brian Murphy once again among the substitutes. The 33-year-old Cesar had been expected to leave the club over the summer but no offers materialised and Redknapp admitted he is at a loss over the playerâs future. Redknapp said: âItâs a difficult situation with Julio and Iâm surprised no one came in for him. Heâs a world-class keeper. âMurphyâs also a good goalkeeper. And besides I donât know whether Julio wants to sit on the bench. âHis dream is to play in the World Cup in Brazil and I donât think this will affect his situation. âThe manager of Brazil thinks heâs the number one man and I donât think anything that happens at QPR is going to change that for him.â
Only right that Green was made number one as not expecting Cesar to be around & has done well so far.
Cesar was the first to make his point clear whilst still collecting his weekly pay cheque ..................... now the manager seemly is making his point crystal clear, as well. Be interesting how things pan out. Harry has a way of expressing himself without saying a single word.
An absolutely calamitous mistake by Fernandes, Beard and all involved in allowing Sparkless to make that ludicrous deal. I really like Tony but in a way, this hemorrhaging of money on this guy who won't even play, could be a good thing in that it might teach him a lesson so he never, ever makes the same mistake again.
I think he's learnt the lesson, and has said as much. Fernandes and Beard deserve credit for achieving as much of a clear out as they have.
Agree - Put Cesar as our number two behind Green, paying the bloke silly money - lets try and get some value out of him...........
He is compared to the rest of the squad! Id now hate to see Green injured then we have a choice between a crap Murphy and an unhappy Cesar.
Depends what hes like in pre match, Lee Camp was a particular prick during the warmups if he wasnt playing while Cerny was always happy, smiling and willing to do whatever necessary for the team.
He's injured though, particularly nasty broken nail this morning. Plenty of tears but he's bearing up well.
Probably one of the best goalkeepers in the world being kept out by Robert ****ing Green I can't imagine that he's very happy about it, being a World Cup year and all.
I know Green is flawed but it's been such a welcome change to see a QPR goalkeeper dominating his area and catching crosses after so long. Despite Cesar's ability to make dramatic saves I think back to him being pinned to his line as the centre backs struggled to cope and attempting to punch the simplest of aerial balls. I know which style I prefer. So if Cesar really wants to play the game rather than just rake it in as his comments suggest then he needs to talk to his agent about taking a pay cut.
What a baffling array of views. The window is shut so he's ours for the time being. Imagine the situation where Green gets injured against a rival and we have to bring on Murphy to face an onslaught knowing that we have Julio Cesar in the stands. Why would we do that? Assumed morals and attitudes it seems. Maybe because he gets paid marginally more than some of our other high earners? Bench until the chance comes along and he takes it for me.
Agreed, why pay him and not even put him on the bench? "And besides I don’t know whether Julio wants to sit on the bench" Why hasn't he asked/told him?
