You could say the same about loads of PL players, the difference between Rooney and Bale, Ronaldo, Messi etc is that they perform in 90% of matches. Rooney doesnt. They also perform when most needed, Rooney disappears when most needed.
Thought my post about Rooney would get some of you going. Most over-rated player of his generation? Bloody hell...........just about the most gifted player of his generation!! Still...........playing for Man Utd is enough for some to not say a good word about him. BTW, I genuinely think he wasn't fit for the England game.......did you see that gash? He isn't exactly in love with Utd at the moment, so I would expect him to put Country first if he could. I also genuinely believe he is one of the best players in the World when on form. Hopefully he can become more consistent over the next 2-3 years. Night night.
I didn't use to rate Rooney until I saw him a couple of years ago, live against us, his movement and fore-thought put him a class above anything else on the pitch that day, almost a pleasure to watch. Wellbeck however is not the full ticket
Theres a huge difference in goals per game for England and Man U. 21 in 101 for Wellbeck, never broken double figures in the PL. 1 goal in 27 games last year. Theres nothing to suggest hes a good player yet and hes not even a creator type like Berbertov, hes supposed to be a finisher.
Another one of those players who is good at conning refs and winning penalties is Grant Holt. I hate him and Ashley Young, both serial cheats.
If we're creating lists..... I suggest Shane Long - certainly in his time at Reading, he went down quicker than a ten-bob hooker. The number of times they were awarded penalties because he'd fallen over was amazing - and yet referees don't seem to be able to pick up on what everyone else sees.
