7 games in with a virtually new team and listening to the radio after the game, the knives are out already...

This is not support, this is symptomatic of today's pig ignorant society that can't see further than the end of its nose and throws something out if it don't work instantly. This planet is well and truely going to hell in a handcart when people who are good at their jobs aren't even given a chance to do it.

and yes, before anyone says it I am as ****ed off as anyone else with what has gone on at AG in recent years BUT all I hear is about how long it is since we haven't won, etc but what has to happen is for our fans to DISASSOCIATE OUR NEW YOUNG HOPEFULS WITH LAST YEARS TEAM because if we continue to lump all of the previous teams shortcomings on them, we are as responsible for what happens on the pitch as the players are.

A line in the sand has been drawn and we have started virtually from scratch so for one last time, FORGET ABOUT WHAT HAS GONE BEFORE, get behind the lads and do what supporters USED to do and encourage the team. Our new team's record so far is:

    Pld 7
    W 0
    D 4
    L 3

Its not great with no wins but you could argue that we should have beaten Bradford and Gillingham and got a draw against Wolves and everything would have been rosy THIS IS NOT A ****ING DISASTER FOR A BRAND NEW, INEXPERIENCED YOUNG TEAM so stick with them and lets try and help them get better. Booing and getting on their backs does NOTHING except increase the pressure - you could tell tonight from how the players reacted when we equalised that the pressure has telling on them, confidence is clearly low but the first win, however it comes, will help to change the outlook.

Finally, a word for Joe Bryan - immense. He has that something about him, make him captain as he leads by example...

Perhaps somebody should point out we've only lost 1 of our last 5 games, not great but a start....

Inexperienced young team!?!? Are we looking at the same team sheet tonight? Some of these players have played at the highest level!!

I am all for giving time, and think he has until Christmas, but when we can't get a result against Shrewsbury at home with players like we have at our disposal, you have to wonder what is going on.

Knives aren't out for me, but I am looking at the kitchen drawer!

PoB you were moaning when we were mid table championship and had the knives out for GJ and his son.

Please be patient with us numptys who are pissed off with being bottom of L1 with no obvious sign of turning the corner and getting back to the dizzy heights that you seemed so unhappy with a few years back.

I don't want SOD out but I do wonder what is going on down there I really do.

Also not won a league game in almost half a premier league season! At any level thats relegation form... Stick with it though, it can't get any worse, league one and league two are equally as nothingy as each other in my view.

See, thats what I am saying - stop lumping the previous squad's failures on to our new one..

of the 18 players in the squad tonight, only Bryan, Elliott and Baldock started last year and they probably didn't play much more than 46 games between them and on the bench, only Maloney and Cunnigham played any meaningful part last year.

THIS IS NOT THE SAME TEAM so give it a chance FFS

GJ isn't fit to wipe SoD's boots in terms of playing football - all he has is running around a lot which covers a lot of the inability but players can only over perform for so long before the momentum wear off and when it does, there is no craft left, just lumping it which is exactly what we descended to. THIS is the difference.

We may not be a very functional unit yet but, it will come

We are bereft of any game plan.
Now SOD blames the crowd for us making them nervous - FFS Man up.

    This 'new' style of play.
It aint new at all - Wimbledon invented it.
I've never seen in both halves so many long balls aimed at Jet and then Harewood when he came on.
Hang on we're different to Wimbledon - we pass at snails pace back and for the back four 3 times first.
    THEN we LAUNCH it.

I can't get over how bad that was tonight.
It mystifies me that we had 2 half decent Championship full backs last year.
    Don't know what's happened to those 2.
However I'm bloody certain O'Connor's not the answer anywhere across the back 4.
Fielding kept his place tonight - FFS.
Flint had one hell of a nightmare tonight on the floor - and made McCombe look like Bobby Moore.
Wagstaffe, from watching his first game till tonight does FA, absolutely FA. Runs about like Headless chicken.
Marv was poor tonight, just couldn't get in the game. If I say he's poor, he's poor.
About the only bright spots tonight was the introduction of Reid and Bryan's performance.
    And JET's goal.

Where do we go from here ?

    South.

I wonder if there is more to this than meets the eye - perhaps Coppout saw something that frightened him off.

As I said, I don't want SoD out - yet, but he needs to be given a clear target to aim for.

Bollocks to promotion or playoffs - staying in L1 will be more achievable.

Sorry mate but GJs boots are in the CC with McAllister and Fontaine.
Ours are at the bottom of L1 and I wouldn't want to lick them!

Forget the fans, forget the players, forget the finances, and forget the league we're in

The buck stops with the Manager for our results and we're all looking at SOD with increasing concern, and wondering just what his next excuse is going to be, because that's all I'm hearing right now, excuses and stupid meaningless sound bites.

WE are not doing that at all. Ventured into the new bar in the Williams yesterday, and the talk was entirely different.

Is that the Royal 'we' ?

You may not be clearly, but plenty are, (just read some of the comments on these pages!), and the dis-satisfaction with the manager and players will continue and grow as long as we're not getting results. If it turns around I'll be delighted but if we are in the bottom 4 at Xmas then further changes will be needed as we cannot afford a second successive relegation.

Attendance wise we're already nearly 3,000 per game down from the first two home fixtures and if we lose at Swindon and against Southampton as I expect us to, you can expect under 10,000 for the visit of Colchester.

POB, I cannot agree with your reasoning on "Young Hopefuls" as there is more than enough experience and so called talent amongst this bunch. I will bet there are at least 10 teams above us in this league who would be very envious of the money and wages we have to spend in this division, regardless of the financial restrictions, I would wager we are still one of the top 5 wage payers in this division, so whilst we may not have spent big on transfers there are too many earning good money and not cutting it. I suspect that there are a good many of our players on between £3-5k a week when I I'll bet most City fans do not earn that a month.

seems we had a lot of the play over 60 % and scored 1 goal very late...heaven the team we score first against next..................

Indeed they are and doing really well aren't they - I watched Yeovil in the play-off games and it is still a mystery to me how they went up, they were pretty ordinary at best (but granted still probably better than us last year). There were 2 reasons which were a). Paddy Madden and b). GJ's sheer force of will

At least when we went up under GJ, we had a squad, good enough at least to be carried along with enthusiasm for a good season or 2 but I will have a small wager with you that Yeovil will need snookers by Christmas.

GJ was good for us initially but some of us saw the writing on the wall long before it collapsed. You could argue the same here but it is WAY too early for that...

PoB I wasn't having a pop - I never do ( at either you or SoD) but I can't see where our win will come from.

Under GJ we built from the back. We were winning games by the odd goal here and there and to concede more than 1 goal was a freak result.

Carey (love him) but his legs left him in 2010. Loads of people were bleating on about our midfield ( the LJ issue) but it was our defence and leadership on the pitch that was our weakness - proof being that Lee left several seasons ago and we find ourselves looking at the horrific possibility of trading places with rovers.

We had a temporary reprieve with Caulker, but there is now nobody to Marshall the back four and I can't see us keeping teams from scoring.

SoDs pedigree is excellent but unless we bolster our defence I fear we are sliding into obscurity - maybe worse.
