Mr Gullible's Europa Leeg Match Thred

    Valenseer

    v.

    Swansea Sitty

    Venew: Mess Tyre

    Thursday September 19th 2013

    Kick Off: 6pm (Welsh time)

Meeting of the Abergarngochdulais Branch of the Swansea Sitty Supporters Club at the Stag and Dalek Pub

In Attendance: Mr Gullible (Secretary), Tarquin (Chairman), Molly (Treasurer), Algernon (Committee Member), Annabelle Fortescue-Smythe (Tarquin's new girlfriend), Darren

Item 1 on the ajjenda was which country Valenseer came from. Jographee is not our strong point so there was the usual disagreements. Tarquin said Spane. Molly thought Valenseer was the capital of Malta. The barman overheard that and said she was probably thinking of Valetta. Annabelle Fortescue-Smythe said she had a job as a chalet girl in Valenseer once - it was a ski resort in the French Alps. The barman suggested she was getting confused with Val d’Isere. After a vote we opted for Spane, but still not 100% sure.

Item 2 Next up for discussion was the cultural issues of the area. Molly (who only eats fruit and is therefore an expert on fruit) says that Valenseer is famous for it’s oranges. She thought that maybe the managers would come on at half-time with a plate of oranges like they used to do at school football matches. We will need to watch closely at half-time to see if this is true.

Tarquin said that they like bull-fighting in Spane and as the bulls get frightened a lot they produce a lot of bull****. He says that any of you lot who are going out there should pick up as much bull**** as you can carry and bring it back home with you. Then you should ram it down the USB port of your computer onto not606.com where it can join the rest of the bull**** found on the site. I think that’s a bit unfair, like, coz we have a larf on here.

Algernon says that Swansea fans need to take a hard-hat with them if they’re going to the game. Apparently becoz of all the trouble between Spane and Britton down in Jibralter, the Spanish guvverment have moved all the Barbary Apes and found them a new home at the Mess Tyre. They sit on top of the stand and have been trained to throw rocks down on to anyone who looks British.

Item 3 on the agenda was how the Valenseer stadium got its name, as Mess Tyre is a bit unusual. Tarquin said he knew the story behind this. Due to the economic situation and cutbacks in Spane, the Spanish guvverment decided to move the local army barracks into the Valenseer stadium to cut costs. One day, a lorry was going round a sharp bend outside the stadium when its wheel flew off. The tyre came through a window into the room that was used as the officers mess. The tyre hit a general on the back of the head and killed him outright. The army put the tyre up on the mess wall as a memorial and they renamed the stadium the Mess Tyre in his honour. Strange but trew!!

Item 4 on the ajjenda was our ‘Meat the teem’ feature. Annabelle Fortescue-Smyth’s parents are loaded, like, and they bort her one of these new-fangled smart-phones for her burthday. She looked up the Valenseer squad to see if we new any of there players.

    6. Romeu – on loan from Chelsea
    9. Postiga – used to play for Tottenham
    24. Michel – maybe Michu’s brother.

We didn’t know anyone else, so that brought us on to our favourite part of the meeting – how many famuss Spanish people can you name instead. We decided to ignore all footballers, managers and golfers or otherwise it would be two easy.

    1) Rafael Nadal (tennis player)
    2) Catherine of Aragon (married Henry VIII)
    3) Julio Inglesias (singer)
    4) Penelope Cruz (actress)
    5) Salvador Dali (artist)
    6) Picasso (artist)
    7) General Franco
    8) Cortes – conquistador
    9) Don Quixote – fought a windmill
    10) Spanish Armada – not really a person but Tarquin said we could have it as we were struggling
    11) Spanish Inquisition – if we can have (10) then we can have this one two.

Item 5 on the ajjenda is our predikshan. We were going to go for Valenseer 3 Swansea 1, but Molly said she watched them against Real Betis and they were crap so we are now going for Valenseer 1 Swansea 1.
