    Exactly.

It's even a cliché in the game ffs. Managers & pundits say it regularly, as often whilst teams will always try to strive for defensive perfection, there's times when you can't apportion blame to the defensive unit & just have to accept that you were beaten by a piece of quality attacking play.

  4. But there is always hindsight too: "what if we'd had an extra DM sat in the hole, the space wouldn't have been available then"

You do have to hold your hands up but there is always a way it could have been prevented, just not necessarily the players fault. It might not be anyone's fault and the conceding side could still win 6-1, but someone will still say it could have been avoided by...

**** me, you gonna be alright?

If you 'get done' then as a defender you ****ing hold your hands up and say you've ****ed up - don't start saying stuff is utter bollox this is not factual, it is debate.

A concept you never seem to get.

    Some of the mistakes in the build up;
    1. Defender back off, allowing multiple touches, then doesn't even bother following run
    2. First clearance not to player, allowed to bounce to opposition and recycled
    3. 2 defenders without communication, neither tracks winger, one slide tackles and misses completely
    4. zero pressure on ball after 2nd rebound allowing easy recycle
    5. offside trap played incorrectly
    4. defender looks to linesman rather than playing to whistle, no pressure on attacker

A bicycle kick is impossible to perform without a foul for dangerous play unless you just give the opponent all the space they need

You're totally ignoring the salient point.

As that's simply not always the case, yes, often you can say "I'd have done this or that different", but on occasion it's just sublime skill that wins the day & there's realistically nothing you could have done to stop it.

For me it's not even a debate, it's merely what makes the game great, hence the short shrift given (no offence intended btw)

Ok fair enough, I'm sure we could look at many goals and agree. All I'm getting at is that there will always be someone (pedantic or not) that will be able to show what someone on the pitch should have done better to avoid it.

    No offence taken <ok>

Yes, there's always the Hansen angle mate, but even he gets laughed at by Lineker on occasion for his dour analysis & intent to find defensive faults rather than merely applauding the attackers skill.

Did any of that actually score the goal or was it the bicycle kick that no one saw coming, they were adapting to all the other attacks pretty well until that point. Can't observe and acknowledge a bit of brilliance?

I quite liked seeing Moses in our team yesterday and having a player in our front three go around the outside and cross it from time to time instead of just cutting in.

If Coutinho is out for a few games it could be epic Allen's time to shine in that awesome AM role he does so naturally.

Well, that's the test isn't it? Rodgers says that's what he's best at, that he wants competition in places so if we're unfortunate enough to have Coutinho out for a couple of games Allen should step up & take his chance, Just Like Skrts did. And if he can't well.....nothing wrong with a manager getting it wrong as long as he fixes it quickly enough.

But optimism first! Let's assume he has the quality, the confidence returned and the balls to get out there and prove it eh?

I can see Aspas playing off Sturridge being more likely than Allen in AM.

Would rather Allen get a go at it personally. Aspas has offered us less than nothing so far....

Hopefully this changes fast because you don't get long to prove yourself in this league!
