Villa 1-0 up. Defender Kevin Toner gives Villa the lead with a powerful diving header from Daniel Johnson's corner.
1-1 FT. Not sure how good the Villa lineup was, but we know from their Nextgen forays that they had a decent U19 setup up to last year. Looks like Kane and McEvoy made the difference compared to the Norwich game. I assume Kane will be getting a run-out on thursday.
Why? I'd expect him to start on the bench and probably come on at some point, but I'd be surprised if he starts. Redknapp wants him on loan, apparently. Might be quicker to put in a list of those he doesn't want though, to be honest.
"Why?" I didn't say he would be starting. I guess QPR would be ok, if Kane is going to get a decent amount of game time.
The championship is a marathon and Harry knows this. He knows he needs quality back up in all positions. Zamora is injury prone, so is Johnson and Austin cannot do it all on his own. I think when he signed BAE and little Tommy, he clinched promotion, but getting Kane in wold be an excellent move for both the player and QPR.
His forwards are very injury prone, too. It'd be good for QPR and Redknapp, but Kane might spend too much time on the bench. Might be better off with us, depending on the Adebayor situation. If Kane does go out to the Championship again though, then he could do far worse than joining QPR. Close to home, too.
As always, from the Academy viewpoint we are looking for our kids to get decent game time. A promotion chasing side in the league below helps. The Arry factor + linking up again with Carroll : even more so. Still nothing out there about Obika though.
On Saturday, I saw a kid walking down the Tottenham High Road wearing a replica shirt with Obika on the back. Never seen that before. Anyway, Brighton came in for him last week as PNP has said. Last I heard he was holding out hoping for a move back to Charlton.
AVB and Freund think he is not good enough, but Sherwood and Les Ferdinand think he can make it. Ferdinand has been quite vociferous in his support for the player, but ultimately it is AVB's call, so I can't see him being with us for much longer.
I'm guessing the kid wasn't that young. You'd struggle to get his number on a kids shirt wouldn't you? Forty something, isn't he?
