No, because they only play each other once this season.

Is this the league we are in instead of the next-gen and the elitist-next-gen-replacement-thinger league?

Who do we actually get to play?

The Next Gen is/was an under 19 competition. We are in the under 18 league and the under 21 league, and we would have been in the Next Gen if it was still running.

Gawd, its so confusing. I thought the U21 were in the next gen. I didn't pay enough attention.

So, what is replacing the nex gen for us? Anything?

UEFA is introducing its own Youth League which is basically a shadow CL. It will be the youth teams of the clubs who have qualified for the group stages of the senior CL competition.

As the NextGen series cited lack of funding as the reason for not running this season, then it is difficult to see how it can be resurrected to go against the UEFA competition.

Yeah, i know about the youth CL thinger, but we aren't in that, so does that mean our U19s just get less games and less experience?

It won't. And UEFA won't allow it to (Champions greed - not altruistic) .
Your best bet is for UEFA to do some kind of Europa equivalent.

As I said elsewhere not so long ago, tis a travesty that the likes of Sporting Lisbon are
not in this tournament when they would probably destroy nearly all the academy teams
whose seniors are in the CL group stages.

    U18s beat Bolton 2-1.
That is 4 out of 4 this season.

Villa away this evening being played at Burton's ground.

Our squad is Archer, Miles, Ward, Ball, Bentaleb, Gallifuoco, Fryers, Lameiras, Dombaxe, Kane, Dawkins, Lancaster, McEvoy, Coulthirst, A.McQueen, Veljkovic.

Jordan Archer was part of the 1st team squad on Saturday as Lloris had been suffering from a stomach bug all week and it was uncertain if he was fully fit. The decision was left to Lloris to make but it was a last minute thing and Lloris took very little part in the pre match warm up to conserve his energy, so Tony Parks warmed up Friedel and Archer.

The CM from that lineup struggled a bit against Norwich.
Will be an interesting season for them given Carroll/Pritchard etc are now on loan.
But good to have McEvoy back in the fold.

    "No Adebayor?"

His physical fitness is obviously not quite ready yet.
But I am hoping it will be so by the time of the next home U21 game. :)

Isn't Archer the one you don't rate ?

Out of interest why on earth would Gomes not be called in in that situation ? Is he really now 4th choice ? <yikes>

    Lineup tonight :

Archer; McQueen, Ball, Vejlkovic, Fryers; Bentaleb, Dawkins, Dombaxe; McEvoy, Kane, Coulthirst.

Vigouroux, Lameiras, Lancaster. (Gallifuoco ?? )

I assume Kane is getting some game time prior to getting a run-out in the Europa game.
