But don't worry thay just can't wait for Liverpool to be restored to their rightful place and us back where we belong.
I would love another 1-0 win. Team I'd like Lloris, Walker, Daws, Vertonghen, Rose, Dembele, Paulinho Townsend, Eriksen, Sigurdsson Soldado No way should we drop our captain after we've just conceded one goal in the five games he's played in. Our upsurge in form last season coincided with his return to the fold after AVB's major error in dropping him, and our upsurge has continued this season with Capt Daws at the helm. I think that AVB has learnt his lesson by now. Naturally other people have contributed to the upsurge as well, but Daws is a key element and should remain as captain against Cardiff and lead our team out. We're four points up on last season's corresponding games, a win here puts us six points up. Looking forward to another Rolls Royce performance from Paulinho, and hope Eriksen can build on his superb game v Norwich, which was a superb performance overall, and all the players deserve another start. Though I must admit I'd prefer Holtby to Dembele, and if there was a change to be made that's the one for me, but think Dembele deserves another go, though he needs to up his game I think.
Agreed, wasn't it Daws that pinged the ball out to Rose, who then whipped it into Bobby, then the Erik - to siggy and ............ Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Kaboul can play in the Europey, with Naughton and that guy who's name I can never remember at LB. Lamela, Friedel, Holtby, Chadli (if fit), Defoe and Sandro should also start midweek and keep the prem team as is. The team has it's shape now, it's up to the new guys to earn a place in it, and up to the guys to keep performing to keep their places. Plenty of experience in the team, and rotated enough to be fresh for the weekend.
I thought Dawson had a good game on Saturday and would be disappointed to see AVB make the change in the back line that you are suggesting. Granted Norwich didn't threaten at all, but a clean sheet in the PL is a clean sheet and IMO Dawson more than played his part. Same defence for me thanks .
so having not actually seen a game since Tibilisi i have no opinion on this myself but: Are we fed up with Townsend now? Too greedy? Not enough awareness of Soldado? Too many speculative shots? There all sort of things i've heard, paraphrasing.
Talking of kicking posts, might be a way Lloris can find his near one...if you can kick it Hugo, you're near enough to it!
He played right back against Tbilisi. The thing about Dembele that gets me is I can't for the life of me work out what his role is in the team. I mean, it's easy for the rest of our central midfielders... Sandro: Defensive midfielder Capoue: Defensive midfielder Paulinho: Box to box Eriksen: Playmaker Holtby: Playmaker Carroll: Creative midfielder ...but Dembele's role is hard to place. He's not a creative midfielder, he's not a defensive midfielder, he's not an attacking midfielder, he's...somebody who plays in midfield, yet we don't quite know what he does.
I agree. 1 conceded in our first 4 league games is superb and very unlike Tottenham. The defence is where we've had the least changes over the summer with just Rose coming into the side so I think we should take note of that and look to keep our back 5 unchanged for the league when possible. It's getting that way. If his shooting was a bit better then it'd be like having Bale-lite. What impressed me about his Europa League games though was that he was more varied in his play, he took the ball outside on his right a couple of times and played a couple of early balls cutting in onto his left too. He definitely needs to look up more though, he does pass it at times but as soon as he's made the decision to go on a run he doesn't seem to change his mind and it usually ends up with him getting tackled or shooting badly. One thing I liked about his performance yesterday though was that even though he was getting sucked into the middle of the pitch on occasions as soon as the move was over he ran straight back into position, there are quite a lot of players that wouldn't do that and would get back in their own time.
Part of that description sounds very much like Taraabt. The getting back into position being the bit that didn't match.
Yeah, I guess there's some similarity there with how they want to be the ones to do anything. A Taraabt that worked hard for the team would be some player though.
Do we know how Kaboul's doing? I'd like to see him come in for Walker when he's ready. Love it when he plays right back, runs down the wing like a freight train.

There were some shocking stats last season relating to the back four lineups. Apparently the same back four did not start a game for more than 5 games in succession. I am all for squad rotation etc, but when your continuity is at those levels, you're surprised the players even remember eachother.
It's one goal in six if you consider the EL which is why I cannot see Cardiff scoring on Sunday. Lamela and Solly on the scoresheet.
