I reckon Saturday evening we'l have a fair idea what we're made of. Another four points and well be doing nicely. Would like to get three points Saturday as we've not been good at home yet. No stand out teams in division yet. As I pointed out QPR have only scored one more than us despite being favourites for promotion. Hardly prolific are they?

Job of the Manager to teach Austin when's a good time to shoot and when's a good time to pass. More to the point, he needs to be hitting the target more often than is currently the case. Poleon and others are certainly quick enough to pick up 2nd balls from the 'keeper or off the cross bar. But t relies on Austin at least hitting the target.

Murphy and Tonge are very similar player imo Tonge has had a great start to the season and Murphy flatters to deceive.

Maybe with the price tag I was expecting more but I haven't been overly impressed

I think Murphy passes the ball really well, he's just not imposing himself in games enough at the moment. He'll come good, he has obvious quality. I don't think the congestion in the middle helps him, if/when we get wingers to stretch the play, he'll have more space and I think that'll help him show his quality a bit more.

Agreed re Tonge though, he's been fantastic so far. One of Warnock's few good signings.

Nothing wrong with that argument, but because the price tag was large (For us) we expect him to be great now, but BMD did say he was one for the future that will play a part now and gain experience doing it. So I'm hoping he has a few more good days which either creates goals or scores a few. Hope he then proves to be good enough for the prem if we ever get there

exactly this to be fair, crowding the centre of the park can hardly let him shine. Hoping he turns out fantastic :)

Can Diouf provide that creative midfield slot, being available at all times, inch-perfect passes to players making runs, but with the acceptance he won't tackle that well, won't work back and may hold onto the ball a little too much and slow things down, and shout and rant at everyone and everything? This sounds like a replacement for Kilkenny.

Can we afford the luxury of that? If we have the other midfield players to do the running and tackling - Austin, Murphy, Byram, Tonge, Green - with spares on the bench such as Mowatt, Brown, Norris, Dawson, I think this could work very well indeed. Varney is full of running when up top and could prove a handful if there is someone else making diagnoally opposite and confusing-for-defenders runs alongside him, Hunt needs someone who can pick him out, McCormack is one of our best players at finding space up top but has rarely had someone who can put the ball exactly where it is needed, Smith needs someone who can find his movement. Diouf could be that one.

Good mix of youth and experience also.

I'd like to see it being tried.

Varney scoring is a good thing, long may it continue. We always knew his problem was confidence, getting used to representing Leeds ... Murphy the same, he will get much better, big plus!

Austin brilliant in front of back four, going to be vital for us ... clean sheets the key. If we keep delivering zero against us for 50% of our games we ho up. Harry knows this at QPR.

If we are ten points off auto come January I expect GFH will bamkroll McD to get three players in to push on.

Lomas should be given an extension now!! And put up a statue of him while in a giving mood!! What a baffling appointment that was!!

Just remember boys. If we win tomorrow (big if) that won't mean we have turned into Real Madrid so keep things in perspective. Similarly if we lose we won't have become millwall and perspective is equally as important.

    Morning btw.

I hope the South Bermondsey chaps are not too shocked or disappointed by this.

I agree with this, I'm such a big fan of the not too high when we win, not too low when we lose philosophy.
