http://www.hullcityindependent.net/?page=news&news_id=1321 If this comes off and we get a new investor from the far east then I can see for certain us moving to a new stadium and being renamed to Hull Tigers.
Exciting if true. Not so hot on the idea of moving to Melton, even less so on a name change, but there's no doubt that if AA has said that there's no more money to come from him, we need funds from somewhere else. If the Chinese bloke comes in and says "it was the name that swung it for me", we're never going to get out of it. Although knowing our luck, it's going to be Carson Yeung.
TBH, I hope not, yes it would be nice to get some money in & make us as one of the mid to upper teams, but I've seen too many people come in & **** up clubs. I prefer a local businessman to run the club than sell it on & then we end up like Birmingham or worse Pompey.
If anyone, it's probably Peter Lim. He's been linked to loads of clubs this past couple of years. He's a Singapore based Chinese investor whose been touted in the past to be in for clubs as diverse as Liverpool, Rangers and Atletico Madrid - none of it came off. He was at our ground as a guest of Vince Tan at the back end of last season and the rumours started down here that he was going to invest in the club. It was also bollucks - Vince wouldn't need his dosh, but I doubt the Allams have got VT's amount of wealth. To be fair, Lim's got some serious cash and if the Allams did invite him, he could chuck some about - but f it is him that's being mentioned, I wouldn't hold your breath.
And how many local business men/women are there with the funds (and willing to invest in the club) to invest to make us a top half side in the PL?
To be fair to City Independent.. this rumour has been around for a good year or more and has been mentioned by Burnsey a few times. It certainly is starting to all make sense. The Allams said that they wanted to change the name of the club to attract investors and that they dont have much more money of their own to put into the club. So.. they use the Hull Tiger "brand" to attract interest from investors in the far east and sell a percentage of the club to them for decent return. Ive never been totally in love with the idea of changing the name to Hull Tigers but you can see that its in the club's best interests if it meant getting new investors with serious money to spend..
What people are prepared to sacrifice for on-pitch success frankly ****ing astounds and appalls me. I cannt believe that anyone would be happy for us to relocate out of the city and change our name to just do a bit better on the pitch. I seriously hate what English football has become and what it has turned the fan into where success and nothing else seems to matter. I'm actually loking forward to not caring any more and having Saturday's free from next season. Harold Needler would be turning in his grave.
You need to learn to speak "CI-eese" : For "Sources close to the CI" read "Heard it in the E3 urinals". For "What we're hearing at the Towers" read "Read it in this morning's Sun" As for the Chinese investor, well that rumour has been doing the rounds for quite a while now and nothing has come to pass.........yet. Must admit that kind of change and the possible MASSIVE increase in financial input is very worrying. We've already seen considerable upheaval and unrest over relatively minor changes. What will be the result of to the club if SERIOUS money gets involved? Thing is there's no such thing as "Stop the Bus, I want to get off!"
If the investment means we can win a cup namechange - then that is surely in the best interests of the club and its fans. I agree with part of the sentiment BCC is saying - but that is all down to the Murdoch millions and the inception of the PL all those years ago, I wonder how many people back then would have been on boards like this one (if they had been available) saying we are against these changes because it will lead to Wimbledon becoming MK Dons, clubs nearly going out of business, the dearth of ENGLISH players in every single top division side, clubs changing from blue to red kit and Coventry playing their home matches at Northampton rather than the Ricoh Arena (when back in 1993 it was technically Highfield Road), and how Hull fans back in 1993 would have been against moving to a new, named after a sponsor ground instead of staying at Boothferry Park
It hasnt but it would do. ER council is desperate to get City....sorry Melton ****ing Tigers.... over the border.
I was told on Saturday, that a deal has been agreed already. It's having an effect already... please log in to view this image
None of these things that anger me so much have actually happened yet. I'm saying I hate it in advance of the inevitable happening and Ive already said that as soon as the name change comes in I wont go until it changes back. I dont see how that is fickle.
Someone well connected in Hull and someone who's normally more likely to come to me for City info, rather than the other way round.
