Just watched MOTD2 in this cold bastard of a country ... Young should be sent off Cheater God that premiership looks boring Work tomorrow But tickets for Brighton in the bag
However it would clear up diving in an instant meaning it makes the refs job much easier in the long run. The trouble is with a panel is that they dont have a clue, they still thought Youngs dive on Derry was a red card and upheld it. Savage said what I said about Young, the defender was running in a straight line and Young veered into him. Maybe 1 challenge per half allowed for each team. People say it would slow the game down but it would be sorted quicker than a penalty after all the arguing.
I can't even remember who is responsible for this ' Made contact in the box rubbish.' ( 1998 World Cup? ) Clubs are even having training sessions on how to win penalties. The Shaun Derry incident should be used as a worldwide template as to what is wrong with modern football. Ashley Young deserves to be publicly executed. I would personally hate him if he won a game for our club by behaving in this way. Why can't the authorities see what he is doing is wrong and that he is blatantly cheating? I seriously don't know how Ashley Young lives with himself. He is the modern day equivalent of a war criminal.
No mate. An exaggeration maybe, but I hate the way in which the way the game has gone. I really dislike the cheating in and around the box in which players 'draw the foul' seems to be an acceptable part of the game.
I totally agree, every FIFA crackdown has just encorauged even more diving. Young isn't even very good at it, he kicks out both legs and does a forward role. Points deduction would be great if the lost any points from a game where a player dived. In hockey, they will send off the diver even if he's punched, a dive there is basically anything to try and con the ref, snapping the head back or choosing to go down. A player will never get a call if he chooses to go down or stops and appeals to the ref which is another tool used to put more pressure on the ref.
I personally thought that Uber's brilliant post was somehow by-passed on this thread. He summed it up as ever, marvellously. That's enough for me, I'm off to bed mate. I think that we're arguing about the same thing here. It all amounts to cheating. However it's dressed up. Goodnight.
Don't you just wish he'd been in the era of Norman Hunter, Peter Storey or dear old Chopper Harris...
Until the rules are tightened up there are only two ways to eradicate this. Young has to take this part of his game away voluntarily or an enforcer like Joey Barton takes him out of the game for a very long time with an innocuous two-footed tackle. Oh I forgot. He plays for Man Utd/ Chelsea/ Man City/ Arsenal (you get the point) and our footballing intelligentsia, Shearer Hansen, Claridge (my other point) say that a forward is entitled to go down as soon as he feels contact. So where does that leave us? It's always a penalty and a red card for the defender however unjust that may be. I seem to recall that the FA can do nothing if the ref saw the incident and did not take action. Surely that logic (designed to justify inaction to correct a clear abuse of the rules and spirit of the game) can be employed retrospectively to ban Young for a very long time? The ref did not see the dive. 30 million people on MOTD did.
Man U get another awful decision at OT, offside player prevents the goalie making a save and the goal stands. The moronic commentators cant even spot it.
Well its not like the Leverkusen team pointed out who did the infringement..... oh wait. Goes back to the point that teams need 1 review per half, Bayer use that and its still 0-0.
Oh and it just proves how useless those extra officials are, he was 5 yards away looking right and it and did nothing. In fact I think ive only ever seen an extra official make a decision twice.
He is a serial diver. Just as refs seem to have it in for particular players with a hard reputation, our Joey being a casing point, why don't they have players marked as divers and adjust their thinking accordingly.
As an England fan.............I'm enjoying watching an excellent Rooney performance. Should have set up Van Persie, but he looks back to his best. How are Citeh playing?
Efficiently. Aguero looks pretty useful though. However it is raining here and so the signal keeps disappearing. Yaya apparently scored a brilliant goal, but I've not seen any of Sky's 20 replays.
Absolute master-class from Rooney. Has scored twice now. On this form he's in the top 5 players in the World imo.
If he was interested in England, he could have worn that ridiculous hat and played against Ukraine. On his day, he's a good player, but world-class? - I don't think so. Never performed for England, sometimes painfully bad. The most over-rated player of his generation.
