The problem you have with that though, it's different players next week, maybe Brady will be good against Newcastle, maybe Elmo will have more luck. Although I doubt SB likes making changes, it all depends on the team we play against, although I do fancy Elmo to be given a break from playing RB.
Apart from the 2 free kicks we've conceded. I think Elmo has been at fault for all our goals due to letting a player sneak in unmarked. Time for Rosie at RB. Quinn also needs to come in for me, but i'm not sure for who.
Elmo doesn't need more luck, he needs to concentrate more. Last year, he was good an taking people on and getting a good cross in. This year, this players are quicker and smarter in defence and also in attack, which exploits his laziness. I think Rosenior is much more solid defensively, but maybe not so confident going forward, but neither is Elmo recently.
Yep, Elmo just lets his man run. I also noticed, when we had cleared the ball and the whole defense is moving out as a unit, Elmo is just walking up slowly playing everybody on side.
Elmo's standard slipped for me today. He wasn't just at fault for the goal, his distribution was poor in the 1st half. Rosie deserves a chance - it's what a squad is for.
Quinn definitely needs to be in the starting line up. We looked much more dangerous when he came on. But he and Brady had a great understanding last year so I'd have them playing together. Who to leave out?...I'd say Koren who was hardly mentioned in the TV broadcast in the first half. Quinn is much more active. Elmo or Rosie?...I'd stick with Elmo. He needs to up his concentration though. Whittingham left him far behind on the goal today.
Nice to see you on here occasionally Roger. Elmo had a very poor game for me and I am far from impressed with Aluko at this level although he has come back from a long lay-off to be fair. He doesn't appear to have anyone to play off or to and doesn't seem to have any confidence in his fellow forwards. Perhaps when Sagbo comes back they may form a formidable partnership. Brady seems to have adopted that "Bernard Mendy" style of playing to the crowd and fart-arseing around with the ball instead of doing something with it. He showed his class and great composure with the penalty against Norwich however but we have nobody to focus on up front. Graham is well held at this level. A quieter game for 'The Hudd' but he is a class signing as is McGreggor. Chester and Davies were the best players yesterday for me but the crowd of 21,000+ (?) was very disappointing.
Hi Laurie...agree with you on Elmo today. Some nice crosses but again made a defensive error that led to their goal. Difficult choice for SB between him and Rosenior. Aluko I thought was outstanding today and always looked dangerous...with a good partner up front he'll score a lot of goals. Graham to me, although he worked hard today, is not much of a threat. I hope Sagbo can work out and Gedo, when fit again, will repeat his goal grabbing ability. Thudd is definitely a class above but took a while to get into the game today...second half he was very good. Livermore is looking good. Davies is brilliant and Chester had his best game of the season. In McGregor we have finally found a top GK. Figueroa was a good acquisition too. I'd like to see Quinn and Brady partnered on the left like last season. Overall we are much improved on last season and should stay up. I had heart surgery in July so hope I'll be around to see it. You never know. Hope you're doing ok. It would be nice if we could meet up again at the KC some day. Take care.
Best wishes to you too Roger. I hope the heart surgery was one of the lesser types although anything to do with the heart has to be taken very seriously. My Father-in-Law has had three major heart operations and is still doing well at 85. Sadly my back condition and AF (Atrial Fibrillation - better know as heart palpitations) prevent me from traveling any more and the AF would most certainly prevent me from obtaining flight insurance or it would be above my budget. My sons and grandsons are season ticket holders and will be meeting some of you at the Avenues I hope. They missed last time as they were both working away. Good luck to you old friend and good health.
Aluko - tho his runs remind me of Mendy as for Elmo he is the only player i felt like criticising (again) really , he isnt good enough in defence
Thanks Laurie. My surgery (8 hours worth) was for an aortic aneurysm (bad stuff). Fortunately I made it thanks to a great surgeon. Was very lucky to pull through though. Too bad you won't be able to travel to Hull. Its been a long journey from when we were both little lads in short pants running after the ball in the Well at good old Boothferry Park in the 1940s. Good luck to you too old friend...we've got a lot of good football still to watch. Take care!!
No I live on Salt Spring Island...its between Vancouver on the mainland and Victoria on the big Vancouver Island. No major hospital here so I had a nice helicopter ride in the middle of the night to Victoria for surgery. Thank God for morphine
