my point is that of course we had to sell and not keep him, but im not talking about that im talking about him being relevant to us as a past player who did well here, I must have missed something here..
Sorry Norway, maybe it's me. I have read the whole thread properly and thought the point was about his being at Hull as a problem for us. I thought it was a 'Dobbie to Blackpool' type point
he did a job to the best of his ability but is a shame it was not enough and he dropped down the pecking order and would have been even further behind now we have two new strikers...He was just not good enough at the end of the day and he realized it....
Wasn't he the second top scoring English striker in his first Premier league season? Second only to Wayne Rooney? Not too shabby, he just had his problems and/or didn't fit in to Laudrup's plans
No not that,though I did make a point that he could have an effect up there same as Ki and Sinclair elsewhere, which as former swans makes them a relevant topic every now and again . It was more about if he was a relevant topic on here,which was what the thread got de-railed into. My OP was just about the fact he is getting stick, all former swans are talking points for us fans, thats just the way it is regardless of the fact they don't pull our shirt on, that's the way its always been ,hence the saying "once a jack always a jack"
I agree, I always look out for former Jacks, whatever division the may ply their trade now since leaving us.

If there is a "fook em" attitude, I suspect it's a lot to do with the fact that so many players have left us for bigger clubs lately and ended up on the scrap heap, while their replacements have come in and shone for us. I think it's hardened us to losing players and moving on. I for one still look out for past players, and as soon as I'm over getting pissed off that they've gone, I wish them well...for instance, I would have given my right arm for a DG hat trick yesterday
Lots of suggestion of off field issues with Danny Graham, otherwise it would have made very little sense to leave us so exposed in terms of strikers toward the end of last season. So it appears we had to encourage/allow him to go. I wish him well as he did well for us and even just before leaving he scored so important goals late in games. If he had stayed and remained fit I suspect we may not have dropped away towards the end of the season. In terms of scoring, the disallowed goal for Hull the other day was class and I think he definitely has premiership quality.
Personally I was disappointed that our fans gave Scott Sinclair grief at West Brom. He was a good player for the Swans, a likeable character and deserved a bit more respect than that
Agreed, and I would have taken him back in a heartbeat given the chance. I think Laudrup's style of play would have suited him to a tee, and he would have learned a lot. It's a shame he couldn't stick around to find out. I hope Man city haven't spoilt him by getting his hopes up with a big move, then dropping him like a snob
another good premiership player, don't think is good enough in the bpl, why man city bought him is our gain, maybe I am just another plastic being clueless
I don't see any issue with this thread at all, some on here think they are god all mighty! if you don't like discussing x players then clear off, and leave it to those that do. Now regarding Graham, Dai comparing him with Scotland, is just so crap, but that's what you get from Dai! Scotland struggled big time at Wigan, with 1 goal, Danny boy put in a respectable 12 or so goals, and was up in the top ten strikers, in our first season, and I watched the hull game were I thought Danny boy had a very decent goal disallowed, if Graham can get his game back, and stop his very unpro like off field antics, then he has what it takes to be a reasonable good striker at this level, how many teams has Routledge been through? I would love to see Danny boy come good, even if he did drop us in it last season, I really didn't like his shop window advert on sky either, but still wish him the best!....................
Agree 100% mate, Sinclair took a big pay cut to drop down a division and play for us,he was a sensation when he signed and his goals got us to the prem league,he had a solid first season for us at the top table but when Man city come and offer to triple his wages he really cant say no to that can he ? if he had turned it down he would have been been labelled as lacking ambition so he couldn't win either way. I thought he deserved a bit more respect from us fans being as he was still god around here just 18 months ago , and to think our fans were brown nosing frank lampard at the bridge because he had half a season on loan for us about 16yrs ago, and those of us who actually remember him playing will tell you he was bang average and did nothing at all to warrant that kind of love! weird ! I actually think that us losing players now doesn't hurt like before for two reasons. 1. its normally a move you cant be-grudge them like to Liverpool or Man city 2. Its because they are no longer reaching the required standard so need to be moved on Im the same as mentioned above though, I get pissed off when we lose players that want to go but I still wish them all the best, and get over it soon enough, oddly enough the players that caused the most hurt were the likes of robbo,trundle,dorus,britton and martinez(manager) these were all cast iron heros that left at really crucial times for us .
I'm another that felt Scott deserved a bit more respect from our fans at West Brom, he gave us some memorable goals none more so than the play off final hatrick but with hindsight he was stupid to listen to his ex and move to a club that did his career no favours though it helped his bank balance just sitting on the bench. I do feel he probably regrets his move but it's not the first time he's made the wrong choice and I wonder if he'll fair any better at the Hawthorns where the team look as if they might struggle this season. As for Danny there was definitely something amiss for him to want away with the League cup final beckoning and us keen for him to go even without having a replacement, whatever it was he has struggled since moving on so it seems our management were right to take the risk and bank the £5mill from Sunderland.
typical dragon talks bollocks yet again. Scotland was a far better player than danny by a mile and if martinez never took him with him scotland would have done just as good and probably better than dannyboy. It was a big mistake moving to wigan on his part as wigan did not play scotlands type of football.....They both were out of their depth but give me scotland over danny and we would not have had months of barron runs that danny gave us thats for sure....
