And his form could reflect directly on the Swans, ie, if he starts banging them in for Hull we have a direct rival and a former player making the difference, same with Ki sung at Sunderland and scott Sinclair of WBA . No matter how many times I point this out some don't get it, couple this with the fact they are all ex-jacks and it becomes extremely relevant and even to a lesser degree important to know about how they are doing elsewhere
he was a valued part of the club thats why i like him but as a premiership player then he is just not there. he is another jase the ace who was top dog in the championship or below but crap in the top flight....there are many of them out there in other teams. both danny and jase will always be remembered for playing their part in our rise to the top...
well said Dai, both were good in the lower leagues but crap in the premier league. and before I get howled down, did danny score a goal from outside the 6 yard box? ok maybe 1 or 2
If he didn't score many from outside the six yard box he'd be in the company of crap strikers like Gary Lineker......
Of course he missed chances, thats why he cost us £3,5m quid and not £35m quid ! I can agree that he wasn't amazing but he did his job while here and regardless of if he was premiership standard before,he proved it while being with us, his goals against the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool were as good a finish as anybody, his total was 14/15 in all competittions in his first season ,he was first victim of laudrups game plan and michus amazing entry into prem league,he then dropped off the radar before scoring 4/4 over the difficult xmas period including the winner against Fulham and a last minute volley against Villa at home , so he has earnt the right to be called a premier league player ,especially when you look at his value. The problem with DG is that he does everything reasonably well but nothing superbly well, but overall his time here was successful, something you cannot say about Jason Scotland at wigan,so lets get that comparison put to bed for starters
I liked DG, he did a decent job for us in the Premier and always gave his all but by all accounts his focus wasnt 100% on the footie - shame and pity he couldnt have stuck in one of the chances against Cardiff! Why is it that so many ex Swans players fail to make an impact at other clubs? there are so many examples and to me it either says that players become suited to our style (eg Leon) or that we have a great team spirit?
I think its a playing style thing . Having watched a bit of sunderland under o neil they were woeful and created nothing for DG, Hull is a little bit similar in that respect, I saw DG finsh superbly against Man city before the goal was disallowed, but I think especially for strikers the team has to provide and the player needs to fit the system a bit better,he isn't a long ball type striker and he needs to be fed . Im not sure about a lot of our current squad though, I think there are a few that would do well elsewhere, like Ben davies, michu, taylor, bony, shelvey, etc
Being a part of our club's history doesn't make him relevant to our current situation. I take NJ's point but DG only becomes relevant if he starts scoring freely for Hull. The fact they are giving him **** is irrelevant to us right now. Sorry that's the way I see it but I understand it if people think otherwise.
He is not a finisher, as a striker then you would expect him to score sometimes but he had far to many barren runs to be called a decent striker. he was put under to much pressure by premiership defenders and that would lead to many errors and bad finishing by the lad. the championship is his level at best and i can see him going there soon,...
I don't see how banging them in for Hull would make him relevant to us now, he's done the job for us and it was much appreciated. He's a Hull player now because we didn't want him anymore, or he wanted to leave, or both. We can't keep players on the books and paying their wages just because we don't want anyone else to have them and we can't expect them to be sold to teams that they don't want to go to, or we'd be selling all our players to Rochdale out of the way
I don't know about that. I think they'll be happy with Michu when he wants to leave, as we're not supposed to be selling our players to other premier league clubs
Well where else was Graham supposed to go? Or was he supposed to stay and get paid while not wanted until his contract run up, then move on for free? I don't see what the problem is with him going to Sunderland/Hull
