In my glass half-full mode, may be only one point, but does indicate that on another day we could win (when their GK isn't man of the match). Disappointing.
We weren't terrible, and generated some chances that should have been goals. A couple stellar saves, a post, and a couple horrible touches when played in made the difference, but we still need to be better in the final third. Liverpool away should be an interesting one. We've played four teams whose first priority was remaining organized, with Norwich the only one who made much attempt to attack. That won't be the case next weekend, and I'm curious how we will fare.
Some good saves but it was nowhere near that! I'm reminded of Liverpool for most of last season, played great football, couldn't score to save their lives. I'm pleased by our defensive solidity, but 2 goals in 4 games, one of them a penalty, during a kind run of fixtures, is simply not good enough.
Well I am glad we didntdo the 150 mile round trip to see that pile of ****! Typical West Ham performance...surly dreadful team with a dreadful manager
He wasn't as good as the commentators were saying. For all of those saves you'd be criticising him if he'd let them in.
I don't think we were poor at all, we looked like a team gelling. My only concern is that Shaw/Clyne aren't making those surging runs as much currently - I hope that's not tactical as we need that width. Osvaldo really is someone who once he starts scoring is going to be hell for opposition defences. Vic and Morgan were much improved second half, and our defence once again looked solid. Lovren seems to be a cracking signing and has settled in beautifully. On another day, against another keeper we'd have won that by 1 or 2. Ultimately you just have to say well done Jussi.
The save from Schneiderlin's volley was genuinely stellar; don't think that he would have gotten any stick had that beaten him.
As Schad says, we really have played at least 3 teams that have tried to stop us playing rather than playing themselves. It's tough for the Manchester City's of this world to break that down as we've seen, so not too disappointed.
I don't think that was really the case today though, West Ham were surprisingly very open at times. Or we might have drawn it 3-3. We conceded more, but we scored more. So I'm not sure what you're basing that on really.
Last season, if we couldn't score, we still conceded. Ergo, we would have lost. It's not rocket surgery...
Thought Schneiderlin was poor for most of the game, but improved when he seemed to move into a number 10 role when Lallana went off, kept getting shots off in the box which was an improvement. It seemed like we ended up the fitter team as West Ham couldn't keep up their pressing so we got a lot more space in the second half and I thought we were the better side after a fairly even first half.
I thought Wanyama was awful. Second half was a little better but only when we changed shape and left him in there on his own. He seems to play badly in a 2 where he is trying to do too much and that also show in how Schneiderlin is playing. I don't think these 2 know (yet) where each other is or what they are doing. A bit of a mess up. Was willing Cork to come on for him, hadn't noticed he wasn't on the bench. Positives were that we did create chances or at least created better chances than in the last few games. Add to that there were a few positive signs that the 'red arrow' counter attacking returned to be royally messed up several times with a misplaced pass or bad touch. Some positive signs there for me. Just worried that Morgan and Wanyama are getting in each others way. Hope it doesn't take them too long to learn how to play like Morgan and Cork................<--------------Hang on a minute
Resorting to petty insults doesn't make you right. I read what you said and it doesn't follow. I'll repeat myself shall I? We conceded more, yes, but we scored more as well. So who's to say we wouldn't have scored in that game?
Wanyama's first touch was poor today. We played quite well and I think Lovren has solidified the defence with Boruc a reassuring influence behind. Our main concern is lack of goals and width, as we relied on the fulbacks for this. There is no shame in losing to Norwich away, however it would have been good to win one out of this game or the Sunderland one. I think we may get chances against teams that attack more. Overall I have not seen much to convince me that we are yet a top 10 side, however it is early in the season and I am not expecting a relegation battle, it is more a question of whether Cortese will be satisfied.
