What the ****ing **** was that twat ref thinking. Inexcusable and it cost us the game. When you play teams like Arsenal you don't get many chances so for our goal to get taken away is unbelievable Also why did Sagna not get sent off?! If he's going to bring it back for a foul then he should have been off. He'll say it's because Altidore got past him but in that case why the **** did he bring play back Argg **** man what a joke
Get over to the Arsenal board and tell them nuggets. They're saying Altidore fouled Sanga and other bullshit.
http://thebiglead.com/2013/09/14/jozy-altidore-robbed-of-equalizing-goal-by-referee-against-arsenal/ Atkinson blew for the foul AFTER Jozy had broken free, not before, as some people who have attended this board have suggested. Suggested even though they clearly havn't seen ANY footage or have the slightest clue about that which they comment upon. Study the above link, it clearly shows the ref blow AFTER Jozy had gained the advantage. As disgraceful as that decision was in itself, put it into the following context. The lads were playing superb and gaps were opening up all over the park as Johnson and Mavrias were terrorising their defence. The stadium was absolutely rocking and the atmosphere was top notch, buzzing in all corners. Now think again about how bad that decision was...
I've seen some referee decisions but that really does take the piss!!! Thought the free kick we had against Liverpool a couple of years ago was bad BUT THAT, wouldn't even let him ref in the Blue Sq.
Let us try and examine the thought process of Atkinson as it happened. Sagna is fouling Altidore as the last man that stands between the defender and the goal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- "OK, I may blow for a foul here as it's a clear foul and Sagna is clearly holding Altidore" "I will wait to see if any advantage is gained before blowing the whistle" WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED SCENARIO 1 "Ok Altidore is through, advantage is gained, lets roll with it and see if he scores, he scores 2-2, goal scored" WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED SCENARIO 2 "Altidore gained the advantage but I have blown the whistle in error as I have waited to see if advantage has been gained and then incorrectly blown the whistle before waiting to see if the goal was scored" "Ok, I have no option but to send off Sagna as according to the rules, the last man who fouls a player who has a clear goal scoring chance must leave the pitch" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How could the advantage gained NOT be considered advantage by ANYBODY with the slightest footballing knowledge? WTF did Atkinson think Altidore was trying to do?? How could ANY referee who understands the rules NOT send off Sagna having clearly witnessed not only a goal scoring chance, but an actual ferking goal.... I mean for goodness sake, these are THE MOST BASIC decisions that a referee must make during a game of football...
This is purely indefensible. Can't believe not more of a fuss is being made. Sky sports hardly even mentioned it. No matter what the ref does regards the advantage, Sagna HAD to walk, for gods sake, no one defender wise remotely close. Two disallowed goals, woodwork twice yet the result sounds like we got scutted.
There was an incident against Liverpool a couple of years back at SOL here is the text from eurosport; Sunderland furious with referee Kevin Friend again…..Carroll is fouled 30 yards out but the referee allows play to go on, rightly so, as the ball falls kindly to Meireles…the Portuguese man fires over the bar though when he should have done better but the referee then calls the play back for the original free-kick but surely too much time had gone? Bramble booked for the foul too. Difference to yesterday incident was Bramble was not last man (and of course he didn't score!). I also remember that Meireles was about 15 yards out with only the keeper to beat - fu**ing refs
Arsenal fans are a bunch of whining arrogant tossers, despite 100% of the media and their own manager saying Atkinson got it wrong they insist he was right. They have to be right even when they are plainly wrong.
The atmosphere was once again ****e in the first half, as were the team, with the Arsenal fans even singing our support is ****..The crowd did rally a bit after we got the goal which was good to hear, but to say it was rocking is a gross over statement...
I've just had a quick look at the comments below the match report in the Guardian. Apparently Jozy was the one doing the fouling and should have been shown a yellow card for continuing to play after the whistle had been blown...
There were moments it was more than a rally and closer to rocking, the singing was continuous and flowed from the di canio chant to sunderland sunderland. Went on for 10 minutes continuous without any pause, until Atkinson wrecked the game.. I certainly noticed a massive change in the volume after that incident. Not quite the rocking from the Reidy era however.
