For everyone who attended 'BrixtonR Day', either in person or indeed in spirit, I'm sure that David would of been so proud of you all. The attendance was quite astonishing considering that we are a small band of brothers that just happen to gather on this forum.

The day began in the Crown & Sceptre where upon my arrival I was greeted by the Irish Rs ( Nuts, CORKeR, Tramore, Finglas and Kingdom Hoop + other family members ) who were already in fine form. Hoops Eternal and his two sons and Col who was with his lad, young Will and Tooting was also there. As the afternoon progressed more not606ers began to appear and as the pub had become so packed we adjourned to the garden for some space.

Once outside we were graced with the presence of Pat, Deon and Lou. David's wife, son and his partner. ( Hearing Deon speak was uncannily like listening to David. Their voices are identicle. ) Pat had brought along an album of David's art that some of us were privileged to get to see. David's work was truly impressive and it was so kind of Pat to let us see some of David's personal and private work that until today, to see it would of only have been the prerogative of Dave's family.
It was only when I got to see what David had produced, that I realised that his talents went far beyond our forum.

Through the course of the afternoon our fellow not606ers continued to arrive. . . .

Roller, Goldhawk, Judo, SussexR, sb_73, Norway ( With a removal van full of 80's vinyl, ) Stainsey, Beth and a few others I'd never had the pleasure to meet before.. Sooperhoop, Woodyhoopleson, QPAAAAAGH, Wubs (WBA2_QPR3) and N22hoop & Sons.

A special mention here for Fulham Traveller, who turned up to honour David. A very true and gracious gesture indeed by a fan from one of our rivals. Thank you Steve. It was a pleasure to meet you mate.

At 14:15, Roller gave an apt and well measured speech. It read as follows........

''It is great to see so many here today as we celebrate the life of BrixtonR. Some of us were lucky enough to meet David on a number of occasions, some maybe once or twice and some others not at all, and it is these people that I believe he would be proudest to see here today because your presence confirms that he got it right. David drew upon his experiences in the real world and, guided by his inherent principles, governed our forum in an intelligent and patient manner, carefully maintaining the balance between freedom of speech and basic decency. With his renowned light touch and in doing so created the wonderful forum that we all enjoy now.

I’m delighted to say that we have been joined today by Pat, David’s wife, Deon, his son, Lou, Deon’s partner, we are honoured to have you with us today as we celebrate how lucky we were to know David, albeit far too briefly, how he enriched all our lives and maybe to think about how we can carry his spirit forwards. Ladies and gentlemen, please raise your glasses in honour of the legend that we knew as Brix.

Patti, we wanted to give you a lasting memento, something to remind you of how much David meant to us, so we have compiled a book of our memories of David which Beth will now present to you. Thank you for coming everyone
    .''

Therein followed an emotional moment when Beth presented a book compiled by Roller to Pat, filled with memories from the posters of our forum.

Pat then bravely and graciously delivered her own speech to us, which was full of pride and emotion of her beloved husband. A truly moving moment.

We then all raised our glasses to David/BrixtonR.

Before we all headed off for the game, we also raised our glasses in memory of Hammersmith Hoopton. A brother on our board who also sadly passed recently.

nb. I would like to thank Roller ( on behalf of us all ) for all his hard efforts in making this special day such a success. Cheers mate. David would be proud of you.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    * Please forgive me if I have left anyone out. It was a long day. *

Let me know, and I'll add you in.

Great to hear you all had a good day - Brix always came across as a true gent and totally deserved this day in his memory. Congrats on the fine turnout from members of the forum - I'm sure many more of us would've liked to have made it. Lets hope the team can keep churning out the results and get us back to Premier league as Brix would've wanted !

It's such an awesome, dedicated, effort by Roller, the sheer effort to make the idea a reality, and everyone who travelled and made a concerted effort to be there.

I had my own contemplative moment at 2:15 but wish I could have been there.

A truly humbling demonstration of the power of the Rs, Not 606 and the lasting influence and legacy of Brix (far surpassing that of a poster and moderator).

Well done Roller and all my fellow posters.

    Much, much respect.

I can only echo what I said on the other thread.
Lovely to talk to Pat and Deon about Dave, and a BIG up to Roller for arranging such a great tribute.

I would be as sick as a small hospital right now if I went. Anyway here's to Wednesday night and my first trip over this season and a few scoops with some fellow not606ers.

A touching and very enjoyable day. Being in the School End for the first time ever in over 40 years of following the R's was fun - they have human size seats and leg space there! Of course I still stood (alongside Roller and Woody) for the entire game (not sure why, it wasn't that exciting) and did, I hope, manage to keep the "for **** sake's" pretty much under my breath in view of the large numbers of small children around.

Big regret having to drive and duck out at 7.30. I should have lingered at least to see members of the Royal College of Music try to dislodge the Irish R's (who were just getting warmed up by that stage) from their reserved seats in the Thatched House.

Huge respect to those who made it, Beth for the surprise pub quiz (Nines, get a life, some of the things you know about QPR are truly arcane) and of course Roller for making it happen. But mostly to Pat, Deon and Louise for their grace and dignity.

Where to start? Yesterday was a fantastic day, simply fantastic. I would guess that there must have been around 40 of us in the garden at the Crown and Sceptre for the toast to Brixton; thank you all for coming. The tremendous efforts made by Norway and the massive Irish contingent to get over for the match were nothing short of incredible, but it was also great to see so many people who had never previously been to one of our get-togethers show up. Having just read Nines’ list, I apologise to these I didn’t get to meet, but you are probably the lucky ones.

The presence of Pat, Deon and Lou added validity, as well as poignancy, to the occasion. They are such warm and compassionate people, David was a lucky man to have them in his life. I’m full of admiration for Pat’s very composed speech made seconds after being presented with the book of our memories, a moment that clearly moved her. I found the walk to the ground especially poignant as it is only 4 months since we made that very same walk with David. They even sat through the match without complaining!

Personally I enjoyed meeting up with a whole host of people, those that I have grown to know well of the last few years, some I that have only met on one or two previous occasions and some for the very first time. However special thanks must go to Beth for painstakingly preparing a QPR orientated quiz for the pub after the match; I still can’t believe that Nines won!

This forum is home to a very special group of people with an incredibly diverse range of backgrounds, beliefs and lifestyles all linked by one common passion; long may it continue.

What a great day for all involved. It was a pleasure to meet so many of the names that now have faces, although remembering so many different ones in one go is not easy. The tribute in the garden of the C & S was really moving and Pat and Deon were really everything I expected them to be. Thanks to Roller for all his thoughtful preparation.

I must say, having lived in Ireland for a short while in the 70s, the Irish contingent yesterday were just as I expected, a really great bunch of friendly lads and lasses who were great company. It is amazing their dedication to our cause and the distance they travel, truly remarkable people.

Lastly, thanks to Beth for her excellent pub quiz, I'm sure I finished last but my excuse is I didn't have my glasses and the pictures were VERY small...

A brief apology to Norway - if we ever find him - for having to sit next to me yesterday and enduring my endless 'bloody bobby zamora' moaning

A special thank you to Roller. Great job mate. We truly have a special group on this board. Great effort from everyone. Very impressed with young Will. Really mature young man who had to listen to a load of dribble yesterday.
Norway's singing voice was very impressive.
Just sitting on the plane ready for takeoff. Surprisingly fresh considering the long day we had yesterday.

    Where to start?

Thanks to everyone for making yesterday so special. Roller, you're organisational skills, Brix would have been so proud.
So glad that I got to meet Pat and Deon. Pat, what can I say, such a wonderful woman. Truly special and seems the perfect match for Brix. Deon, so much like his dad. In the words of Arry, triffic lad.

We truly are special fanbase, this is the QPR way.

Great to have more faces to place to the usernames.

Beth thank you for the quiz, love a good pub quiz and you thouroghly delivered, cheers. And congrats to Nines for his landslide win.

And finally, a special mention to the Irish contingency. Fantastic to spend time with in the evening, just sorry I couldn't keep up with the drinking, got well and truly drinken under the table. Had to leave around ten I think, just when the singing got started.
Nuts, Kingdom, Finglas, Jim and the non Irish Tooting (sorry if someone is left out, all a bit blurry to be perfectly honest), thanks, that was fun! Have to do it again sometime :)

So glad you survived Norway, it sounded as though you went missing in action, it was lovely to meet you again. In fact it was lovely to meet you all. And my admiration for the Irish Rs is second to none. What a magnificent bunch.

I know I keep saying that to you Roller, we should thank you so much for arranging everything so well....and Pat Deon and Lou, for being there. ..I said to Roller (I think) before meeting Pat, Brixton was such a special person, and so Pat would be a very special person too....and boy...is she special and some!
I am not sure I could have come along yesterday, in the circumstances....but she came along, gave us a touching insight into her Dave, the same but different to our Brixton. Came and suffered the match with us.

I so hope I can keep in touch with her..
Thank you Brixton, Roller and to all you RRRs
