I like the quotes about bottle, and about playing on the big stage. Hope it applies to this summer's transfer targets.
two other quotes that sum up the man "typical germans" and "it's hard to take as i thought we were the better side" after 4-1 defeat to liverpool
The 4-1 against Liverpool was a real hammering yes. A penalty, free kick and 2 Wimbledon long balls over our last man. We had more possession and more shots on and off target. United were the better team, Liverpool got lucky on the day. Everything they hit went in.
I agree with you to an extent. Liverpool fans remember that game as some sort of glorious exhibition of football but only one of their goals didn't owe to a long ball. United didn't really turn up at all though. I remember us going 1 nil up through the Ronaldo penalty and hardly celebrating because we'd looked really off the pace even up to that point and I just felt uneasy about how the game was going. It was one of only 3 times in my life that a team went 1 nil up in a United match and I'd felt sure they would lose. The other 2 were when we went 1 nil down at Newcastle before winning 6-2 as we'd dominated and played really well before going 1 down and against West Ham at Upton park last season, where I couldn't believe we were 2 down, such was our dominance.
