Should have been three or four down before half time

QUOTE=Teessidemakem;5346337]Arsenal were class, but 2nd half we more than matched them. Diakite was immense again. We deserved at least a draw but once again bad referreeing spoilt a good game. That ref needs to be fined and suspended the fooking to$$pot!

A clear goal and a red card and he got both wrong!!![/QUOTE]

    A terrible footballing fiasco...

..but let's talk about the game rather than Sunderland as a club.

I thought Arsenal were excellent value for their easy victory and furthermore the referee was the MOTM.

Terrible decision and clearly had a massive outcome on the game, no-one can be sure what would have happened next but would have been far more interesting.

I'm pretty sure Sagna didn't prevent a goalscoring opportunity as Altidore got passed him and actually scored - he kind of didn't prevent it the referee did! So does that mean the referee needed to send himself off?

If the second half is indicative of how you're going to play from now on then you'll do fine, just a touch unlucky with your fixtures but I assume this means a nice set of fixtures later on in the season. Even after 10 games, if things have gone badly, you'll still probably only be a handful of points from safety and have most of the bad games out of the way. It would be worse to end the season with these fixtures, if you were having to bed in your new players in fixtures you are expected to win then the season could have get very sticky. I think you'll be fine.

Arsenal would have won anyway, sunderland was poor from the off while the gunners with a couple of key players missing had a game plan that sunderland did not have....that is the difference ....your manager must do better than that especially at home.....I had you down for a win today...

Did we not improve vastly second half and more than competed with a very very good Arsenal?

Not sure if you're wumming or not? Failing to mention any positives and the fact our plight doesn't really concern Swansea makes for a bit of ****ty kick us while we're down post tbh.

Load of bollox, Arsenal were by far the better team during the first half however were 2nd best during the 2nd half. We had them rattled at their own game and with 15 minutes left at 2-2 in a raucous SOL I'd of bet on a winner for SAFC.

Didn't you loose 4 - 1 to man utd at home with a weaker side and less human error from the ref?

I agree entirely,..... the course of the game was slowly moving in our direction, and a 2nd equalizer would surely have ensured a point at worst. The crowd would have forced the Lads over the line had the Ref not spoilt it !! How he never gave a Red Card was beyond me !! <doh>

It was either a goal or a red card. There are no other options.

    Ya right Indie.

Atkinson will ref Macclesfield or Aldershot etc next week then it will be forgotten about by the FA. Well until the refs write their autobiographies laughing about such incidents.

It's times like this that make you wish a referee would be made to explain his decisions and be asked why he didn't see fit to send someone off. He had no bottle? Even at 1-2 if we were playing against 10 men it would've been far more interesting than against 12! Oh and Gardner and Ki start for me next week
