The big man is unstoppable. "Chris Iwelumo's header gives Scunthorpe victory at Southend for their first win since the opening day of the season."
Morning Hornets and associates - good luck today (although we might just have kick-started Charlton's season for them last time at the Valley )
Bugger - just realised that I will miss the win over Norwich - will still be in the operating theatre.
Morning all, finally the meteo got it right and we do have rain. Only light stuff, but it should last most of the day if they are to be believed. My local hospital does have wi-fi and I had just worked out how to use it on my new phone when they threw me out. Had a chat to the staff while they were sewing me back up, but not sure that they would have allowed me the theatre with earphones and mobile.
Maybe not a mobile, but, as I will be awake (but pleasantly drugged) during the operation, I've been advised by the surgeon that I can bring earphones and my own choice of CD music into the theatre. Cue Enya.....
Morning all from a damp but brightening bandit country - been to the gym and then the butchers and have broken my fast. So a quick bit of preparation for some DIY in the morning and then off to The Vic.. COYH
Morning all from a cloudy but dry Jersey. The Championship season in rugby union starts for JRFC with the "One Big Rugby Weekend", which is their equivalent of the RL Superleague's "Magic weekend". Our game at a "neutral" venue is against Plymouth Albion at the home of Exeter Chiefs live on SS2 at lunchtime.
Morning all from an overcast but dry bandit country. But for some poor finishing, would have won yesterday, but I cannot help feeling that if we had to would have been a hard result on Charlton - a bit strange really.
Namaste one and all. Back from a demanding, exhilarating and fulfilling trip to India. Will take a few days to readjust. It is so COLD here.... It was 38 degrees plus in our last 4 days and we were drinking litres of bottled water to keep going. Delighted to say I have just a full English breakfast and a decent coffee... and will be in the wine garage later to choose a decent bottle Managed to see the results... not so good for us recently. I will catch up .... so in the meantime COYH
Thames Path challenge done and dusted - finished at 7.30 AM this morning for a time of 22 hours. A word of advice - if anyone asks you to join them on a 100km walk in 24 hours for charity just give them a cheque for the cause of their choice - it is a whole lot less painful
Is anyone watching the Reading match? Its crazy! A red card for each team in the first half as a result of a strikers challenge and dive sees P.Pogrebnyak depart. Then Ulloa makes a challenge which would be more at home in an MMA octagon #flyingsidekick.
Unfortunately, Guernsey seem to have a clear idea of where their football is heading whereas the Jersey FA seem to be a bit muddled. UEFA haven't helped with that either. I've mentioned before that the JFA has tried at least a couple of times to get full membership of UEFA and have been turned down. Now Gibraltar have been given that honour, there is a possibility of a fresh attempt. The problem is that we are supposed to be getting a new 4G pitch for Springfield Stadium, and that because the JFA is a county FA, the FA is going to pay 1/2 of the cost. This means the JFA is in a difficult position: do they try and get into UEFA and risk losing the pitch, especially if they fail again, or stay as they are to make sure they get the pitch. There was also the suggestion by Education, Sport and Culture that a new stadium be built to be shared by JFA and JRFC but JRFC said no which they may regret as there isn't the room to develop their current ground to cope with promotion to the Premiership should they ever achieve it.
