good god, he's not, ask any player in the world and they would say scholes is better, even Zidane said he was his toughest opponent.
this Scholes>>>>lampard. Scholes' potential has never been fulfilled at national level. One could argue at United too. If only he had some of the Barca players around him...
Being one himself, this is probably a defender's perspective. Lampard won the CL playing as a defender while Scholes would never be able to do that, its beneath him.
Shock horror, yet another scouser doesn't rate Scholes. Could've predicted that a mile off, along with his completely flawed reasoning.
Depends what you want really. Scholes was is in a different league to Lampard from a creative point of view but if you want 20+ goals from centre mid every season without fail you'd be better of sticking Lampard in there. Both fantastic players not really possible to compare like for like as they play/played the game differently all be it from essentially a centre mid role. One point I would make is that both are definitely world class and to claim Lampard isn't is ridiculous!
Have to disagree there. Scholes was always playing in a two man CM alongside a single defensive midfielder, first Keane then Carrick. Lampard has played 90% of his Chelsea career in front of two CMs who did all the heavy lifting to allow him to get into goal scoring positions and meant he didn't have to worry about his defensive duties. The one season Scholes played a similar role to Lampard was 02/03 when Scholes scored 20 goals which matches Lampard's tally from pretty much any season barring 09/10. Whereas Lampard has never run a two man CM with the same skill, vision and success that Scholes did for the best part of two decades. So yes, Lampard is definitely a world class midfielder, tho' I would argue not a world class central midfielder as he never really played CM. But whereas Scholes proved he could play successfully in Lampard's role, Lampard has never proved the same in Scholes' role.
