Teams have taken youngsters from around the country and put them up with host families for years to get around the 90 minute rule. Shearer and MLT weren't local to give 2 examples. Would just mean that the kids live in a boarding house arrangement instead.
Didn't put that as well as I might have. I meant how many of that age show their worth even for that stage of their life? MLT and Shearer were special but I am sure we didn't get them as young as nine. Waiting to be proved wrong though.
kids cant be re housed until 16 /or when they leave school .then teams like chelsea insist on it even if they live 5 minutes from the training ground.the 90 minute rule is for over 12s and 60minute for under twelves.most clubs including saints and chelsea open satalight developement centers to get over these rules.saints is at basingstoke and chelseas is at ash ,bournemouth had one at winchester until recently.my son was at chelsea and we were told on the first night of what would happen with re housing at 16 and we would have no say in it even if we were prepared to move.nipper is now at aldershot and has been invited to the saints developement center for assessment so we are close to whats going on.what they dont cover in the rules is the travalling the kids have to do to get to games we have had to drive for 4/5 hours this season to play 4 x 20minute 1/4s and then turn around and come back ,training might not start until 7pm then goes on for 2 hrs and then a drive home 4 90minutes 3 times a week and when only 14 and still growing its hard on there bodies and school work so i hope they inforce more rules on the clubs for the kids.
sorry forgot to mention chelsea has even opned a satalight center in Italy this season to get over the rules which are now being enforced ,the 90 minute rule was not around in the days of sheara ant matty its been only recent to try and help the english game as the fa can enforce this at local level so making the clubs get english kids into acadamy level for the future ,they cannot without difficulty restrict the amount of forein players coming in at pro level as it comes under the freedom to work act so they are trying to force the clubs thruogh there acadamys to produce more english players.
Can't say I'm too surprised at Chelsea trying that. Surprised though that the Italian FA are ok with it. I'd very much doubt they'd be able to build such a centre in Spain or Germany or for that matter any developed country that values its football.
