I know there's been a few threads on this before. So are there any players around? I started in the January. I'm using the Justin Guitar Beginners Course.
January this year? I've gigged for 38 years come this November (I was 15 when I started gigging) and I still do gigs in Hull and elsewhere on a regular basis! (even Chazz and the lovely Mrs. Reinhold have seen us and they didn't choke on their beer or throw anything!) It is good that you're having lessons. I did so for piano and double bass (grades) but not for bass guitar and guitar. I picked up the guitar with a tutorial book and experimentation - working out songs from records etc. I hope you're enjoying the thrill of learning new chords and licks etc. It's a good idea when you're confident enough to play along to your records. You'll sharpen up your chops and your timing... who knows you'll soon be gigging! Good luck!
Took lessons when 14, talking the 60's here when everyone wanted to be the next Beatles or Stones and I am still playing today. I'm useless at lead so stick to rhythm and now and again annoy the neighbours. But I have written some of my own stuff, sang into my computer microphone then used some software called Magix to put backing tracks on made up from loops. As to whether it is any good or not that is anyone's guess but it was fun messing about trying out stuff. Always wanted either a Burns 12 string or Rickenbacker 12 string but both are out of my price range even today, so I will have to carry on wanting, like the sound of a 12 string, at the moment I have a very poor copy of a Strat and a Crafter acoustic. I often go on guitar enthusiasts websites and I am often amazed at the collection of guitars some guys have and I don't mean pop stars not to mention some of the amps. Old fashioned valve amps seem to be the thing, like old fashioned Strats or Telecasters they fetch a lot of money.
Aye I'm not bad. Did my first gig at Adelphi in a punk band when I was 15, played in various bands, supported Cast, the La's, Radiohead, ended up as a lead singer and guitarist in a Mod tribute band. Stopped gigging around 10 yrs ago. Do a bit of DJing nowadays when the mood takes me. Never had a lesson just learnt by ear. Also play bass and drums (left and right handed)
Suited was that 'bass left handed' and drums 'right handed' or both, both ways if that makes sense? Who was the mod tribute band? PM me if you'd rather not say on here...I only ask because we do a lot of Small Faces stuff...
No, I said 37 laughter lines on my forehead and anyway I thought at first your missus was your daughter... (PS are you in there on Saturday night?)
I'm playing a Squier Affinity Strat with a humbucker in the bridge through a Fender Mustang 1 amp. I've been playing since January this year. Know all the opens chords including F barre chord, power chords 5 and 6 root notes, I can improv with the minor pentatonic and can play a 12 bar blues. My own main problem is I don't know many songs.
I love Cast and The La's. But John Squire is my main spiration. Along with Keith Richards, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Marr, Roger McGuinn, Eddie Hazel and Nile Rodgers.
I have 15 guitars, stupid really, as I only ever play four or five of them. I bought a 12 string acoustic, but couldn't get on with it at all. I'm not the most talented guitarist, I'm a bit of a thrasher, but the 12 string was the only guitar that i've had that I couldn't get on with at all. I stopped gigging about two years ago, we did a lot of Clash, Cure, Buzzcocks etc and I figured 47 was old enough.

I had a few guitars but now I just have a 1982 Fender USA Bullet, Fender Jazz bass, 1972 Orange stack and a basic Premier APK kit and a couple of acoustics
