http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Emmanuel-Adebayor-on-loan-from-Tottenham.html Not sure this is sensible even if we were in the Prem??? Anyway off to lunch now, going to try that Lebanese place Fanoush on London Road.
For me it all depends on the terms of the loan contract. He always seems to start off well with his new clubs, but then performances deteriorate and little niggles creep in.
Granted, but he knows where the goal is though, and if he can bang a few in until Charlie hits form, that's OK by me.
On the pitch, decent player when he can be arsed. Off the pitch, complete tosser who is massively overpaid and just coming off the death of his brother. Plus, does anyone think Levy will be paying any of his 100+k a week wages?
The Mirror suggests that he is on £170k pw and will be told by Spurs to train with the kids. Would be a crazy signing IMO, even as a loan. Spurs would be looking for at least half his wages to be covered, I would have thought, and if the Mirror is right (big if, I know) this would put our contribution at £85k pw - more than we pay any of our contracted players. Plus he has a **** attitude.
Wouldn't be my choice of player for QPR where we're currently at. Thankfully we've started to move away from that type of player; overpaid, big time Charlies. We got rid of Djibril Cisse last season and not before time. I wouldn't want to go back there with this kind of signing.
Harry spoke about this at his presser this morning. He said that Adebayor would be a great loan, but it's up to Spurs. He can only come on loan to the championship, and that would be difficult. Not sure what will happen to him. (Mever denied interest though) What happened to our friend El Pirats? He used to give us briefings, sorely missed.
He gives a third of his salary to charity, never asks any one else to put their hands in their pockets on his behalf. When he left City he was prepared to drop his wage to £100k, if one of City or Spurs continued to give £50k to charity - they declined. Can't be denied he's still pretty comfortable on what's left, but I can't think of a better reason to gouge money out of football clubs. For some reason they thought he was worth £170k a week, can't blame him for that. He was on the bus that was machine gunned with 3 Togo staff killed a couple of years ago. Not sure if I would be completely stable after that. What a tosser, eh Flyer! Don't particularly want him (or Clint Dempsey, what's happened to him?). For this season we'd be better off with Billy Sharp.
I think the beauty of this signing would be if he does play up we can always ship him back , and even if he gives 50% he will score bundles in this league.
Flyer was perhaps OTT but trying to elicit any sympathy for a guy on 100 grand a week is a job even you might find futile. Flogging Prozac to the Japs may be difficult, Stanley. Sand to the Arabs, next to impossible. But compassion toward a modern Pro footballer? You're havin' a giraffe int ya?
He'd have to take a pay cut if he came to the championship surely? As loan signings for strikers go, Adebayor is clearly decent. Christ we're a championship side...yet some people's standards are ridiculously high these days The guy is coming in to compete with AJ + Austin, that's all. With the current spirit in our squad, the players aren't going to let Adebayor slack off. Arry/bond/Jordan/carrol/jenas/BAE have worked with him before, which is a bonus. Arry won't bring him if he's not making the right noises. Yes, i'd prefer Billy Sharpe/Guidetti from city...but if they don't happen, this would be a solid option. He'll be on a short loan- so no burdensome contract; and if he's coming to get games then he'll put a shift in? Put it this way- if Reading took him on loan, then i'd consider them more of a threat this season.
The thought of this fills me with dread. Flashback to last season's type of player, you need workers in this league and I'm damn sure he doesn't fall into that category!
Who's trying to elicit sympathy/ compassion? Just stating the facts, which in my opinion make Abedayour something less than 'a complete tosser'. You've got a problem with the rich, haven't you?
The Mirror (I know) article suggests that the reason that he didn't move in the window was that he wouldn't take a pay cut. He doesn't seem desperate to get games. It's a big fat NO from me.
