Southampton Football Club on Twitter: "Mauricio Pochettino's pre-match press conference will begin shortly."
Pochettino says he decided to include Tadanari in his plans due to his professionalism when he wasn't in the fold.
Seriously? But the conference hasn't started yet. Would this have anything to do with mayuka going on loan?
Pochettino: "Our purpose is to create the future stars, but not sell them. For example, right now, Gareth Bale. Everyone knows he was created here. But these future stars, we want to keep them."
It's already underway. MP says, they decided Mayuka would benefit from games, so they let him go on loan. From there, they had a place to fill. They looked at who was in the club at current and decided that Tadanari's professionalism meant he was the best option to bring back into the fold.
I hope that doesn't get interpreted as a slight against Sharp. I'm sure it wasn't solely based on professionalism.
Agree, I'm sure it wasn't. But he did highlight how Tadanari deserved this opportunity and that his professionalism, work rate and attitude meant that he deserved it.
Excellent conference. One of his best, in my opinion. loved it when he replied on the disappointment that players feel when they have trained all week and yet don't get to play. He said, people forget that when a club signs a player, his first duty is to train... He finished it off by saying that it has always been that way. Someone has to be disappointed, otherwise we'd just have 11 [his number] players.
I thought I heard him muttering in English to the interpreter, saying "I don't understand..." or something. Might just have imagined it though.
Indirectly maybe. We've heard very little from lee except the disagreement with the Tokyo manager. Sharp has been whining on twitter about having nothing to do etc. It would appear that Lee has kept his head down.
Yep, I particularly liked this bit. Basically, he'll speak English when he's good and ready. The journo actually asked, when are we going to hear you speak English. We know you understand it..? He smiled and David Salas said, go on, answer in English. He didn't. One answer he did give was full of free flowing Spanish and in the middle of it came training ground..!
