The cup win aside, the success of a season is probably better based on points gained rather than league position. Points gained is a direct result of your own efforts while league position can depend on the quality of teams around you. That quality was worse last season than in Rodgers season (IMO) which accounted for a higher league position despite getting fewer points. As swansalona has pointed out there are other factors why we got less points. I may check out the record of the 2 managers to see who has got the best results in terms of points gained.
From Wiki: - not sure what games are included or how up-to-date the info is but.. Laudrup - Games 54. Won 20, Drawn 16, Lost 18. Win percentage 37.04%. Points per game - 1.41. Rodgers - Games 96. Won 39, Drawn 29, Lost 28. Win percentage 40.63%. Points per game - 1.52. Not a massive difference considering the majority of BR's games were in the Championship.
do your checking again we got less points under laudrup than a far tougher season when rogers was in charge...how the hell can you say laudrup has done better when he only got 12 points out of 45 is beyond comprehension. we at 9th place was the second worst team in the premiership and thank god we never had to rely on our second half performance due to the abysmal strength of the bottom half of the premiership is beyond me...don't you read the facts or what. Even on talk sport one of them said that cardiff look a better organized team but without the quality of players we have, so it is noted that we let ourselves down and have not been showing the type of football as we have been showing previously.....These are the issues not that we finished 9th behind a poor premiership season on less points than previous season.....I want us to get back playing like we use to or i can see that the statement of cardiff being the better team could well come true....
Hopefully we get it sorted but Shelvey and Bony first touch won't allow us to play tikitaka. We previously bought players to fit our system - these two mean a change in our system - hopefully for the better but I think our days as Swansalona are over
I disagree that shelvey or bony cant play the short sharp and fast passing that has been our trade mark. Shelvey has shown he can do it and boney is or should be in the faces of the defence to slot the ball home....We complain that we never get any penalties but if you look we are not playing like we were with the tikka takka that got us into the penalty box where we got plenty of penalties. Sinclair got us quite a few and he would put them away. By playing as we do now with much longer passing see's the ball either going astray or intercepted frequently and that is our problem...I pray to god that we will start to rectify our sloppy passing as it is not working and laudrup comes to terms that his style is not getting the results we are capable of.....we can beat liverpool and we should have got a result at spurs also.....we would have under our previous system and we can do it again....I want to see some changes against liverpool because if we play the long passing game they will walk all over us with rodgers short passing game....
The reason we don't get penalties is that we don't take players on and go past them in the box .... we do all that outside. If we're not applying pressure and stressing defenders in the box we're never going to get any penalties.
Exactly....I want to see us in their face once we get to the box area, teams are bound to make mistakes at some point because we do.....Lets go for it and show liverpool that they are not as good as us keeping possession...
Couldn't have put it better myself, and have said as much to Dai, so many times of late, but he simply don't get it!..............
No need, I was quoting FACTS, the only currency you deal with. Maybe Rodgers record is worse than you remember, or Laudrup's is better, or most likely, a combination of the two. I don't think I said Laudrup has done better or that Rodgers has done better. They both have had their successes. You are 100% correct when you say that Laudrup has taken 12 points out of his last 15 Premier league games. That is a FACT and nobody on here is disputing it. But sometimes you have to dig a bit deeper beyond mere facts to find underlying reasons and these have been quoted ad nauseum, but in case you've forgotten they are tailing off when safe from relegation and tough fixtures to start this season. Can we assume you don't play the stock market, Dai? You have to look at things in the long term and not lose your nerve when share prices start falling. It's the same with football results. Unless you follow Coventry, Wolves or Portsmouth I suppose.
Easy, he has a 100% record in the last 1 game. Is easy to pick and choose a source for facts, just like you have done. Laudrup also has 49 points from the last 41 games, which include playing 3 teams that finished above us last season 3 times. Laudrup has also taken us through 2 qualification rounds of the Europa League, something Brendan Rodgers didn't do
Oh Dai, Did you also know that Rodgers only picked up 14 points in his first 14 premier league games. Compare that to Laudrup getting only 12 from the last 15 Of the teams Rodgers played in those 14 - 6 were those that finished above (Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, West Brom, Arsenal) - 5 finished below us - upto 17th (Wigan, Sunderland, Stoke, Norwich, Villa) - 3 were relegated (Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton) Of the teams Laudrup played in those 15 - - 10 were those that finished above (Liverpool, West Brom, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, Man Utd, Spurs, West Brom) - 4 finished below us - upto 17th (Norwich, Southampton, Fulham Newcastle) - 1 was relegated (Wigan) So thanks to Dai, we can 100% confirm that Laudrup is indeed a much better manager than BR Even more so when you consider Rodgers played 8 of the 9 teams who finished below us that season, compared to Laudrups 5/11 I best get some bloody rep for using FACTS to shut Dai up FACTS he can not deny
lol thanks never, don't ask me why I put that bit in, I was just feeling rather good about what I was about to post haha and am looking forward to see what Dai's response will be, if he doesn't run away with his tail between his legs. But then knowing Dai, he will prob find a reason to say "its not about the teams your up against" bull****. But it is interesting, There was a pool of only 9 who finished below us, and 8 of those were in Rodgers 14 (88%) There was a pool of 10 team who finished above, and we played 6 (60%) Where as Laudrup, only had a pool of 8 that finished above, and we played 7 of them (3 of them twice) (125% ????) dunno how to work that 1 out lol Yet of the 11 teams below (bigger pool than rodgers) we only played 5 (45%)
You'r not getting any rep off me. They may be facts. They may be 100% correct. But they are not Dai Facts
I would give you rep for that (made me chuckle) but I gave you some recently, and its telling me to go away
