Are you really naive enough to believe that Ferguson makes innocent comments to the media about players? Seriously? Give it a rest.
"basically" means you read what I typed and ignored it! what I said was I believe if Man Utd make a bid for Modric then he will be sold as unlike a naive person I don't believe what managers and chairmain say to the press, I go by their actions. Hardly relevant in todays game and is an exception to the rule, also shearer finished his career with how many medals? which is the point as todays ambitious player has a hunger to win silverware, rather then have an ambition to go down as a club legend. Again, you're repeating what I typed and then ignoring I said that, which just proves my point that you're young minded and have no interest in anything other then selective reading. Show we were I typed "we should sell him" you can't! instead you're 18yr old mind reads "I believe if a bid is made then he will be sold" and decides I want that to be the case. My young friend, that is called being realistic so calm down and try to be more mature. I am a fan, I don't decide if he is sold, this isn't football manager! so please step away from the computer, maybe have a cup of tea and realise when a fan has a realistic view of todays transfer market, it doesn't mean he "WANTS" a player to be sold as I have already typed the following: Which is clearly my own personal hope on the matter.
Managers and players are always making comments about their opponents, it means **** all. It's just paper talk. I can't stand people who pick up newspapers such as The News Of The Word or The Sun and believe the constant bull**** those terrible papers come out with. 90% of the time these rumours are complete nonsense and besides it's not like Sir Alex is the only one who makes comments about opposition players, your own manager does it too so this article is very hypocritical.
PNP there's no point responding to this guy. I've never seen someone spend so long trying to engage in a debate whilst making zero effort to comprehend what's being discussed. The admissions he's had to make after he finally read one of your comments would make any normal person try and slink away quietly and hope it's all forgotten about in a few months before visiting here again... but no, he's still going!
So bascially , in your Opinion, Tottenham are never going to win a title... Because you said you need to keep the squad - and Modric is 99% certain to leave if we bid (so the squad won't be kept together) And any decent player you ever have will be 99% certain to leave for a "bigger" club So if Tottenham need to keep the squad together in order to win things - why sell Modric? Why not sell your lesser players, bring in players of Modric's quality and make him want to stay? Or are you content with Spurs being a feeder club because it's the "nature of the game"?
Yeah, you're right. He's not even reading the comments, just sticking to the same stuff that he started with and ignoring any points that anyone tries to make.
I believe there is zero chance of us challenging for a title with the current way this club is run and you keep going on about "why sell Modric" he isn't being advertised for sale, or am I saying we should sell him, i simply said that I believe if a big bid is made by man utd then the player will be sold. I can't change the nature of the game, I can only comment on what takes place and weather you like it (or not) the fact is people want to better themselves in life and in football if a player like Modric has the chance to play for a team that can win the league and the champions league then you must be naive to think he would say no.
I get the feeling that he could get in an argument with his own reflection. He'd probably still lose too.
No, you really haven't. You've just repeated the same dross, over and over again, without actually addressing a single point that anyone's raised. "It's all the media and Ferguson hasn't tapped anyone up, ever. Stop being paranoid." Every. Single. Comment.
Big Jonny .. If Spurs have any ambition they won't sell Modric. I'd love him at United and actually I agree that if we manage to get a bid accepted he won't hesitate to join us. But, my point is why should Levy accept a bid? What does that say to the likes of Bale and Van Der Vaart? He might as well rename the club 'The Feeder Club'. You would like to think that with the players you have, and the exposure you've gotten - that Spurs are ready to try to challenge football's "nature" You sound like you have abit of a chip on your shoulder. And it's seems as if you'd quite like Modric to go so you can say " I told you so" to everyone on here. It's appears that it's not only me that finds you patronising, arrogant and rude.. but hey - you're new here .. you need to stamp your authority and let us all know who's boss.
Redknapp just replies honestly about every attempt to sign players, which is clearly wrong and not particularly constructive. He'll also say that every player that we haven't bid for is "triffic", but that he's contracted to someone else. He should just be quiet, frankly. You're not naive enough to believe that some clubs don't conduct their business in a very dubious manner though, Lidls. Some of them have been caught doing it, for a start.
Your response was ridiculous and basically just a more inclusive version of your mantra. "It's all the media and Fer... er, nobody has tapped anyone up, ever. Stop being paranoid." Do you honestly believe that people always just give a straightforward opinion at press conferences?
4Three2One, that's exactly the impression I get too but you have to understand many of our younger fans will have little recollection of any prolonged success as a Spurs fan, so when things start to look up some prefer to take the fetal position and wait for the fall.
I don't believe this club currently has all the right ingredients to match the ambition of Modric as it's easy for Redknapp to talk about challenging for a title but then at the end of the season he says "5th is the best we could of hoped for" and that tells me even our manager believes because we can't match the spending power of our rivals then i think he knows we can't progress much beyond 4th/5th and a decent cup run because of our limitations.
I believe that tapping up is coming out and saying that you want to sign/are interested in signing a player. I don't believe a club is interested in a player unless it is confirmed that they have put in an offer. I believe that 90% of transfers rumours are just that, rumours. If someone comes out and says that they are interested in a player and that the player should join their team (e.g. Barcelona with Fabregas) then that is tapping up. Saying you think someone is a good player could well be just an innoncent comment, unless it can be proven that they are actually trying to purchase that player. Unless there is concrete evidence that someone is "tapping up" then there is no point throwing around allegations. Yes managers/players will sometimes make comments to "get an upper hand" but it doesn't mean that every comment they make is intended to do just that.
