Hard to tell between RVP and Bale last season, but now RVP obviously. Followed by Suarez, Mata and Yaya in no particular order, based on last season's form. Hard to tell atm what with Suarez and Mata not playing this season.
there is no skillful players .. England are kind one dimensional style and players wise .. Germany passed by the same phase and changed all system after a disappointing late 90s and look to the new generation under the supervision of matthias sammer ..all started with focusing more on skills at early stages and sure limit non British players to 5-6 per club
We weren't in wc94.. Or is that why you enjoyed it? If your lad is quarter Scottish and quarter English, what's the other half?
I enjoyed WC 94 as England weren't in it. It was just about the football, even though that wasn't great, the final was certainly ****, but there was no Sun fuelled hype to deal with. The lad 's technically half English, a quarter each from both me and the wife but the wife's English side is Isle of Wight and some of the locals don't consider themselves to be English. It's an in-joke that should probably have been explained at the outset! The other quarter is Egyptian. He played in a tri-team tournament today. His team drew 2-2 and win 4-0. He scored 4 goals and made two assists. Brazil it is.
I'm going to show my age here and fill in the gaps 84 we didn't qualify 82 we went out unbeaten (Gutted because we simply didn't score when it mattered), 80 was mediocre and 78, 76, 74 failed to qualify (our most barren period ever). All in all a woefull history of underachievement (if you add your memories as well). Many of those memories being of teams which did actually have World class players. All in all I can't remember a single time when our national team has been the best team in England let alone the World - remember that during much of the last 47 years since 66 our club sides have shown up rather well in Europe (and not always with foreign players). So why the club before country syndrome, which was as true in 1973 as 2013. Or are we destined (In stark contrast to Germany) to be forever a club before country nation ? As the Spanish were until 10 years ago.
Martinez's short interview on the matter. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/sep/12/roberto-martinez-english-youth-everton
