While I am sat in the dentist chair in Malaysia, waiting for a titanium screw to set in a freshly broken tooth (feckin' polo mints), thought I would kill some time and write a post..... So, what does everyone make of this term "winning ugly"? Seems to be a fairly new expression that is regularly tossed around. Not saying I don't like it, and see some sense in it,. Though, what is is that everyone is expecting? Is it the Taarabt style flair from most of the players? A Barcelona-esque passing display? A sh*t or bust, no guts no glory attack like Blackpool in their premier league season? Or just good old-fashioned value for money? Can't help but picture Russell Crowe (cue the stick) in Gladiator and him announcing to the crowd...."are you not entertained??!!" It's quite obvious that with the games we have had so far, we could easily be a mid-table team at the moment.....a little bit of luck and fortune has fallen out way, but the season we got promoted we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat (or a draw) a fair few times, rather than last season where we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory i.e v Wigan. Question is, who is going to be our Mackie/Taarabt? In all, I'm not concerned. We will be entertained and dominate games with possession and goals providing glair players remain fit. Can't wait to see how Hoillett, Kranjcar and Phillips get on. All I know is that you are lucky people if you live near loftus road and can get to games. At the moment I would give all the chicken and rice for an afternoon at the Queen Adelaide, followed by a walk up Bloemfontein Road to see the mighty hoops.....fingers crossed for an Xmas visit......and will gladly take three points even if we "win ugly".
Should have sucked them polo's that is, we've not been playing well this season so far but have picked up 13points playing ugly & winning & have just done enough in last two away games to pick up max points, not pretty stuff yet but will come with the players we have, its just like saying picking up points when not playing well which we are doing.
