54 hours until kick off! There are still a few Is to be dotted and Ts to be crossed but... The pre-match drinks will be in, out and around the Crown and Sceptre, 57 Melina Road. http://crownandsceptreshepherdsbush.co.uk/ For those who have never been there, it is a real QPR stronghold on match days but if the weather is bad could get a little cosy. We have an advanced party arriving somewhere around noon who will try to secure as large an area as possible, please get there if you possibly can. Events seems to be transpiring against me getting there too early, and knowing me I'll wander in at 2:14 because I intend to raise a toast to BrixtonR at 2:15, hopefully giving everyone enough time to get there but also allow those who want to get to the ground before my habitual 2:59 time to do so. I hope the weather is good enough for us to hold the toast outside the pub as it will get swamped inside. I'm still waiting to hear back from Deon as to when he and Brix's family hope to arrive. After the match I've, through absolutely no knowledge at all, plumped for The Thatched House, 115 Dalling Road. http://www.thatchedhouse.com/ It comes highly recommended. It is a little hike from the ground but should be quieter (at least until the #IrishRs get there!). The menu there looks good and it is also handy for Ravenscourt Park tube on the District Line. If anyone has any major objections, speak now or forever hold your peace One more thing, there should be a tribute to Brix in the programme so either buy one or read over someone else's shoulder. Cheers Roller
Good stuff Roller. I'll take charge of the Recce party and ensure that as many seats as possible are reserved. I'll also volunteer to personally taste all the beers available before the group arrives to ensure quality control for everyone. I think Col (and Will), 999s, Fingi, Tooting (quality control assistant) and Tramore will all arrive early enough. Can't wait. Managed to take tomorrow off so heading out tonight to get the weekend started.
Really looking forward to the day...... Have to pick up a few things in Westfield en route, as instructed by Mrs TR and also to stop off via the club shop to pick up a shirt for Inky....but should allow sufficient time to help with the seat reservations......
If all goes to plan, those who have yet to have the pleasure of meeting any of us, look for one or more of these....
I will be there just after 1.00 I hope....as I am not as hardened drinker as you lot (I need to be careful of my intake..otherwise I may miss the match, the evening, the train home etc!) You are warned I will be equipped with a sheet of quiz questions (fun I hope).....for you lot....and a small prize for the winner... I will also have some money for Finglas for my ticket And some paracetamols for later on for me. See you tomoz... come on u RRRS...please win tomorrow...for Brix and his family
Thanks very much Roller. I will be there as early as possible. Will try to hold the area by the window with the big table under the TV. It would be great to celebrate the day with a victory. Here's to a great day.
Nuts and Tramore, I'll meet you both at the gate in terminal 2, it is normally gate 407 or 409. See you then.
Will do Fingi... Ill also have aged mother in tow as she is flying to Bournemouth on Saturday to stay with friends for a couple of weeks so will make sure she is checked in and sorted before meeting up. Fortunately that flight is also from T2......
Excellent work Roller I'll try and get there as early as I possibly can (sometime between 12.00 and 1.00 hopefully). Anyone know when the club shop opens? Tramore? Have to get some stuff before the meet up. That's a shame, was looking forward to meeting you. Another time.
When I say tomorrow...I am over excited I mean Saturday.....unless we are meeting tomorrow \at 12.00 in the C&S
I shall get there 1sh, got to nip via Camden & Bounds Green first Can't make the pub after as its my parents Golden Wedding anniversary so a sharp exit post match Would appreciate suggestions on best place to park to get away (relatively) quickly.
I think Col and Stainsey know some nifty on street parking, but I always go for Westfield, straight from there onto the free involuntary parking on the Westway. Westfield costs £8 for the whole day.
