We play out from the back & play pretty passing triangles around the half way line. We hold a high line & have kept the ball better (over 60+% possession in our 3 games so far, which is the best in the league but means **** all) There's been little pace in the final 3rd & we've looked a bit predictable.
Moyes is currently public enemy No.1 at Goodison after his behaviour over both his departure & the chasing of our best 2 players. Utter ****ehawk.
haha, he's the bollocks & you know it (just ask Carra ) We've got a good squad & tbf he's traded well in the window, albeit I'm totally unconvinced by McCarthy.
If you offered losing to Arsenal in exchange for winning the opening nine games, I'd take it! 27 from 30 would be superb
Speed of your attacks was one of "he who shall not be named.." hall marks of his teams towards the end of his reign, no? I'm sure a quicker tempo suits players like Mirallas, Osman, Pienaar, do they not get lost/have their impact lessened if you play to much tippy tappy stuff? I do like the McCarthy chap you bought from Wigan, if I'm honest I'd have him over Allen (wanna swap?) The rest of the purchases from Wigan wouldn't fill me with too much joy.
Yep that's about right. Mirallas needs grass to run into, not square balls with no penetration. Kone's alright, the goalie & the CB are squad fillers.
Tobes you were talking about Everton being in with a chance to win the league in 2010/11 as I recall, do you not think we should have that same optimism?
As much chance as us winning our first ten games as you drawing your first ten. Very unlikely. Better odds that we go unbeaten for ten games and that you go without a win in that time. Probably more chance of the latter than the former.
possible yes.... each game in itself is a challenge that must be overcome with ultimate effort and concentration. Our objectives should be to improve our passing and ball retention compared to the last two games.
That's the point. pleased with our start, but in each game we've been hanging on for dear life at the end (the whole second half, in the case of United). We're not blitzing teams away like, say, the team of 1987/8.
This is what prevents me from getting too carried away. Any one of those games could have gone horribly wrong in an instant- only a penalty save at the death kept the points against Stoke and we can't rely on that all the time. On the plus side, we may be defending a little better and so are able to hang on to a lead whereas we kept throwing them away before. It's just too early to see any real pattern at the moment, but I'm happy we've got those nine points in the bag, regardless of how we got them.
35% of all English league winners (Premier league down to conference) from 1892 have also been top of the league at the end of September 50% of them were top at the end of October 61% November 69% December Nailed on to win this season
True but winning those games whilst not playing our best is also encouraging because we would have ended up dropping points this time last year or the year before.
