I had to look Roy Goodall up. He last played for England 80 years ago. Seems he was captain of the great Huddersfield team of the 1930's. An interesting choice Spurf .
Expect it will be similar. There must be someone we can stick out on the left instead of Milner though surely... not sure who's in the squad and can't be bothered to check.
Before Roy Goodall there was Henry V another fine defender who played for England and before that Boudicea who lost to the Romans. Ah! the good old days! Now Longshanks what a player he was and then there was Alfred the Great talk about hot cakes down the wing.
The Romans were fielding their reserves in that game. Come the knockout stages, when Boudicea faced the Romans again, giving it the big I Am, the result was very one-sided - which set the stage for the next couple of thousand years of English football...
Rix was left wing. It was Brooking originally and then Wilkins/Robson after that. Occasionally John Gregory/Sammy Lee/Gary Mabbutt would keep him out of the side. If ever a player should have had the team built around him, it was Hoddle.
Can we not stick Stan Mortensen in there somewhere? There has to be at least one HCAFC player in there I've hardly been blessed in my time as an England fan. This is probably the best-XI since I started watching them in 2001 -------------- Seaman ------------- Neville -- Campbell - Terry -- A. Cole Beckham - Lampard - Scholes - Barmby* ---------- Owen --- Rooney -------- * God help the next generation, whose England team is even worse than that^
We are happy with Barmby, not so much Campbell You had the opportunity of including Mortensen and blew it!
