Noticeably colder today. Yesterday I was hiking round Bolton Abbey in a polo shirt and today I'm sat at home with a fleece on.

Now I live on me todd and there's no way I'm putting the central heating on until at least October. The current lady friend doesn't yet have the authority to overrule that.

But for those of you cohabiting it's a different story. It's a regular topic on here and quite frankly I find your stories amusing. I want to read about them.

Stories, arguments, tactics...let's get them on here. Use this thread as a support group to get us through this difficult transitional period.

Lets bring the not606 family together on this one.

Mines weird. She's spent the summer with a fan blasting onto her side of the bed, while she cocoons herself in the quilt, with just her face exposed to the fan. I've pointed out the stupidity of this on numerous occasions but she just laughs at me and says it makes her feel cooler.

So last night she was moaning about needing the heating on. I mentioned that she's spent the last 3 months trying to cool herself down, and it's not even that fooking cold yet, and she just looked at me like I'm mad.

Next up will be me about to nod off then she'll stick her ice cold feet on me to warm them up. I've tried pushing her away, and just ignoring her in the hope she gets bored and fooks off back to her half of the bed, makes no difference.

28 years we've been married, and in another 28 years I swear I'll never ever understand her.

A free (second-hand) wood-burning stove where the open fire-place used to be. I took out the old ****, made a hearth out of textured garden flags, put in a fire-board sheet with flue access, re-did the doors with fire-rope, and re-lined the rear of the fire-box. 7kw of heat is claimed for this stove.

Was just toying with the notion of lighting it (first time this back end), cos I've gotta take the hound out and it's pissing down out there.

Single-storey cottage with no central heating. Answer - open all doors and let the stove spread its heat all over.

I love it when it's cold. I hate heat (well, humidity) and I love sitting in a freezing house with a jumper on. It's refreshing.

Things are going well so far with the current lady friend. A couple of nights ago she was the one kicking off the quilt. And I've only got the 4.5 togger on at the moment.

I've given up trying to fight this war on two fronts.

I just can't do it anymore.

At work I'm still in the trenches and will not yield.

    At home I've given up.

I'm sorry as this news will come as a shock to most of you but her indoors has worn me down over the years.

She's even said that the windows need to be shut in our bedroom because my snoring will keep the neighbourhood awake.

Every September/ October we have the argument about not needing the heating on and it's reasonable to expect the family to wear jumpers in the house.

    I'm just dog tired.

    I'm done for.

    Endex.

I have a 32" LCD monitor fixed up to the PC in the "lounge".
That generates quite a lot of heat if you have a white wallpaper as your desktop background.
If the females, wife + 2 daughters, in my house are lucky I might change the wallpaper to a log fire.
    NO HEATING TIL OCTOBER!!!!
    Stay strong brothers.

Jesus. No wonder they used to send us in first to soften them up before the pongos got sent in.

Well I just tried to put the heating on but the bloody thing refuses. Being a helpless women I will wait till hubby gets in then ask him to sort it. As he was brought up in a hot country he hates feeling cold so think we will both agree on this, only for a couple of hours to take the chill off though then back off. Love hearing all your stories though, very funny.

one of the benefits of being married to a big'un. our heating doesn't get turned on until it really drops low.

helps claw back some of the coin we spend on the extra seats on the airplane.

    My flat is roasting!

I do appear to be one of very few blokes in London still wearing shorts. I've decided to work from home for the rest of the week (if I can take the heat). Been here a year now and the heating has only been on once (and that was for other people).
