Do you ever watch any games on TV? Nearly every away fan is stood up. Except ours of course. And it was the same in the Championship. Other teams don't seem to have so many fans whinging about standing and must be in better health than ours as we always seem to have someone commenting that their mate, dad, brother, uncle, grandad or someone can't stand up and consequently everyone should remain seated. Which you don't seem to see on other sites. You now have people in the small area of the KC which tolerates people standing who having got season passes there despite knowing this and are now complaining people should remain sat down. No wonder the atmosphere is crap.
It can't be beyond the club to come up with a way of making sure that everyone is happy at away games. I would guess the majority of those who go to away games, excluding the newbie PL rubberneckers, would prefer to stand so there must be a way of accommodating the fewer who want to sit down.

At many Prem away grounds (Villa, Everton, Norwich etc) you can't see on tv what goes on.

At Man U and Liverpool, they robustly enforce the no standing rule and will sling you out.

Standing or sitting, we have far too many rubberneckers period.

No club can enforce the 'no standing' rule if enough people stand up.

Certain fans stand up everywhere without fail, Man Utd, Liverpool, West Ham, Newcastle etc...
That's because they all have the same mentality, and you can't chuck 3k out.

It's harder for clubs like us where there's a divide in the mindset. The stewards are ready to pounce as soon as a good few sit down.

Villa are **** for making you sit down, I saw the Goolies thrown out for refusing to do so.

And if you stand at the back at West Ham, you can't even see the pitch.

Man United also have a terrible standing policy, as did the ****er stewards at Pompey and I was threatened with ejection for refusing to sit at Elland Road, but most clubs are fine. Even at our place the away fans generally stand, it's only our fans that are told to sit down.

All this "standing up makes you a better supporter" is ****e. Sometimes I stand, sometimes I sit, I do what the **** I want. Sometimes I sing right though and sometimes I can't be arsed.
I sat down at Chelsea, why well most around did. But my mate in the lower teir is about 6'4 and couldn't see nak all with fans standing in front of him and he is generally a stand and chant man. So he moved down and sat down.
It's all about choice and enjoyment. If the crowd is standing and the crack is good I join in, but you will never see me standing up facing the crowd waving my hands about just to get a chant going.
So when I choose to sit down and enjoy a game call me what you want but here's a tip, don't let me hear you.

I really wish they'd bring in this safe-standing that's being talked about. I'm all for options and personal choice and it has to be said that standing does create a better atmosphere - I personally thought it was excellent at Man City, (I did notice stewards forcing the home fans to our right to sit down however). But it is true that some fans will find it very difficult to stand for 90 mins for various reasons and therefore should not be forced to stand. I cannot see why clubs can't be allowed to provide seats in the front rows whilst further back the option to stand is available. It's **** really.

I have to say this. Our supporter base is becoming older. There is a huge generation gap. This is more so at away matches. Concession rates mean that a season pass is reasonably affordable.
It may be that other clubs have a broader range of ages supporting them.

The simple solution to this problem could be solved by the ticket office if they had a "tick box for seating or standing". Tick which one you want and then allocate accordingly. Not that hard to do is it ?

£41 a ticket for Hull fans and the game being on Live Tv wont have helped sell tickets.
Man City fans only paid £33 for tickets. Rip off.

NB. For those who have not been to Sid James Park before make sure you pack your climbing boots and oxygen tent. Its great a climb up all those stairs to the top but the view is superb.
Dont bank on the lift working either. Lol.

It is when it's technically illegal to stand at a Premier League football match.

A lot on here going on about the poor following (numbers) at Man City, but I know quite a few people who applied for and failed to get tickets!

Did we, or did we not sell our allocation?

They must have very late if they applied for tickets and didn't get them, they were definitely on sale until 3.00 pm the day before the game.

We took a 1,600 allocation and pretty much sold them all, but only just, I think too many people are just assuming they won't get tickets and are not applying as a consequence.

True. But if we put all the standers middle to back and the sitters front to middle then when the stewards turn a blind eye to standing then everyone is happy - ish. At the moment it is a mess.

When you say Newcastle tickets are on general sale do you mean anyone can just go and buy one from the ticket office because I put my form in when they released the 2nd batch. I presume I will get them then. They were processing yesterday and I have heard nothing today.

You only took 1600 to City?

We took 6000 on a midweek, televised cup game a couple of seasons ago <ok>

    Two things wrong with that:

1- it was your big day out.

2- You get the whole stand in the cup. We were never going to get that many tickets for a league match.

What? Your first game back in the Premier League against one of the title contenders wasn't your big day out either? Behave.
